💕🐾 Our beautiful Callie, the Cavalier Queen! 🥹👑

Some dogs need a little more time, a little more patience and a slightly different approach to their grooming appointments, and our gorgeous Callie is one of those very special souls. ❤️

Callie has a heart condition, which means she can sometimes be a little shaky, develop a dry cough and need a few moments between different stages of her groom to rest, settle and regulate. 🥰

As Callie has gotten older, the way her grooming appointments look has changed, and that’s absolutely okay! ❤️

We adapt to the dog in front of us, not expect the dog to adapt to our routine.

For Callie, this means slower, more considered handling, gentler equipment and plenty of opportunities to take a break whenever she needs one.

After her lovely warm bath, Callie goes straight onto the grooming table to be dried. We remove the nozzle from our dryer and use a low-power setting to make the experience as gentle and comfortable as possible, reducing the intensity of the airflow while still getting her lovely coat dry. 🛁🐾

We continually observe how she’s coping, giving her time to rest and making adjustments throughout her appointment.

Because grooming a senior dog, especially one with an underlying medical condition, isn’t about how quickly we can get the job done. It’s about how comfortably and safely we can get it done. ❤️

Callie’s appointments may take a little longer these days, and she might need a few more breaks than she once did, but that’s simply part of growing older, and she deserves every single extra minute. 🥹

And can we just talk about those cuddles?! 😍

There really is NOTHING quite like a Callie cuddle! This beautiful girl gives the most wonderful snuggles, and we absolutely adore her. 💕

Getting older shouldn’t mean losing the little things that make our dogs feel good. Sometimes it simply means changing how we do them.

We don’t expect our golden oldies to keep up with us. We slow down and meet them where they are. 🐾❤️

💙🐾 HAPPY SATURDAY, LOVELY HUMANS! 🐾💙

The salon is closed today as we only work the first Saturday of every month now… you know, that little thing called work-life balance! 😆🥰

But just because we’re not in the salon doesn’t mean we can’t fill your newsfeeds with some of the gorgeous little angels who’ve been in for their pampers! 😍

And today, we have an absolute heart-melter for you! 🥹💙

EVERYONE MEET BARNEY! 😍🐾

Our utterly gorgeous show-type English Cocker Spaniel puppy, and just LOOK at him!! 🥹💙

Honestly, this little man was an absolute superstar throughout his pamper! 🌟

He took everything in his stride, and we couldn’t have been prouder of him.
We know his guardians are just as proud of their beautiful boy as we are! 🥰

Now, don’t let that adorable little face fool you because Barney has already appointed himself head of security at the salon! 🤣🐾

He wasn’t particularly bothered about anything going on around him… until the delivery drivers started turning up with takeaways for next door! 👀🤣

Well, Barney certainly had something to say about THAT!
Apparently, nobody delivers food on his watch without receiving a very stern telling-off! 🤣💙

We absolutely adore this little character already, and we cannot wait to watch him grow, develop his confidence and blossom into the gorgeous adult spaniel he’s destined to become! 🥹

And judging by those paws and that beautiful chunky build, we reckon he’s going to be quite the substantial young gentleman! 😍💙

Thank you to Barney’s lovely mums for trusting us with their precious boy. We can’t wait for more cuddles, puppy kisses and security patrols at his future appointments! 🤣🥰

We just had to share this beautiful offering from McTigue Funeral Directors. 🥹❤️

We had the absolute honour and privilege of being the groomers for McTigue’s beautiful Labrador, Amber, for many years, and she will always hold a very special place in our hearts. 🐾🌈

So, seeing Shannon now offering these stunning pieces of memorial jewellery, including the option to incorporate our beloved pets’ ashes, is something we absolutely love. ❤️

Anyone who has ever loved and lost an animal knows that they are never just a pet. They are family, our companions, our comfort, and a part of our lives that leaves pawprints on our hearts forever. 🥹

Having the opportunity to carry a little piece of them with you, wherever life takes you, is such a beautiful and meaningful way to honour their memory and keep them close. ❤️

We think this is a truly wonderful addition to the services Shannon offers, and we couldn’t be happier to share it with our lovely community.

Because although we may no longer be able to hold them in our arms, we can carry them close to our hearts forever. 🐾🌈❤️

🐾💕 Beautiful Betty, our little ray of sunshine! ☀️🥰

Some dogs just have that special something about them that instantly brightens your day, and our gorgeous Betty is most definitely one of them! 😍

This beautiful Border Terrier came to see Dani for her groom, and honestly, what an absolute delight she is! 🥹❤️

Betty is just the happiest little soul, full of personality, always ready for a bit of fun and with the most infectious zest for life! 🤩🐾

She’s so incredibly pretty, but it’s her playful, happy-go-lucky personality that really steals your heart. You simply cannot be around Betty without smiling! 🥰

We absolutely adore this amazing little girl, and it’s always such a pleasure having her in the salon for some pampering, cuddles and, of course, a little bit of silliness along the way! 🤣💕

Never change, beautiful Betty. The world needs more little rays of sunshine just like you! ☀️❤️

“Do you know what I love most about being a professional dog groomer in this moment in time?

We are witnessing a beautiful shift in our industry.

Competition is finding its rightful place in the show ring, while outside of it, we are striving to become better versions of ourselves, not better than each other.

Education is becoming a priority, knowledge is constantly evolving, and we are finally recognising that the dog standing in front of us is not simply a coat to style, but a sentient being with emotions, boundaries and a voice that deserves to be heard and respected.

And perhaps one of the most powerful changes of all?
Groomers are supporting groomers.

The bitterness, rivalry and unnecessary negativity that once overshadowed parts of our industry are slowly losing their place.

In a predominantly female industry, we are seeing women championing women, celebrating each other’s achievements, sharing knowledge and lifting one another higher than ever before.

And let’s not forget our wonderful male counterparts, who are just as much a part of this evolution.
Their passion, knowledge, talent and contribution to our profession deserve equal recognition and celebration.

We are all professionals united by the same passion, a commitment to our craft, a dedication to continued learning and, above all, a genuine love and respect for the dogs entrusted to our care.

Another groomer’s success does not diminish our own.

We are stronger when we stand together, better when we learn together, and our dogs benefit when we grow together.

And I, for one, am absolutely here for this new era of professional dog grooming. ❤️🐾

😍🐾 We had the most AMAZING little treat yesterday!! 🐾😍

Everyone say a big HELLO to RALPH!! 🤩🥹❤️

Now, we all know by now that Dani has a HUGE soft spot for spaniels… 👀🤣❤️

So you can imagine the excitement when this gorgeous little bundle of spaniel perfection came through our doors!! 😍

And Ralph certainly didn’t disappoint!! 🥹

What an absolutely AMAZING little boy he is! Full of cuteness, charm and everything we adore about spaniels! 🐶❤️

We know he isn’t going to stay this tiny forever, and before we know it he’ll be growing into those gorgeous spaniel ears and paws… but can we just keep him this small for a little bit longer, PLEASE?! 🥹🤣

Honestly, how is anyone supposed to get any work done with this level of cuteness in the salon?! 😆❤️

It was an absolute pleasure meeting you, little Ralph, and we cannot wait to watch you grow into the handsome boy you’re going to become! 🥰🐾

🐾❤️ OLLIE, YOU ABSOLUTE SUPERSTAR!! ❤️🐾

Sometimes the biggest grooming achievements aren’t about the haircut. They’re about trust, confidence and those little moments that make us incredibly proud. 🥹

And Ollie’s last appointment was possibly our BEST session yet!! ❤️

Our gorgeous red Cockapoo had a bad grooming experience when he was very young, leaving him with some understandable worries.

Since coming to Dani, we’ve worked tirelessly to build his trust, confidence and tolerance of the grooming process through gentle desensitisation.

Now, Ollie is a tad neuro-spicy! 🤣
He’s a RED Cockapoo, need I say more?! 👀
Add his early experience and we’ve got quite the character! ❤️

🧠 Did you know that a dog’s brain is constantly processing touch, sound, smell, vibration and movement?

When those sensations become overwhelming, particularly for a dog with previous negative experiences, the nervous system can switch into threat mode.

Their brain starts prioritising safety over learning, making it harder to relax, process information or build positive associations.

That’s why pushing a frightened dog through a groom can actually make their fears worse.

We work WITH their nervous system, not against it. ❤️

Despite all our progress, we eventually reached an impasse and sought veterinary advice.
Ollie was prescribed medication to help reduce his anxiety during grooming.

And there’s absolutely NO shame in that!

Sometimes patience, environmental adjustments and desensitisation need a little veterinary support too.
Medication isn’t about forcing compliance.
It’s about helping a dog feel safe enough to benefit from positive experiences.

And we’ve finally found a lovely balance for Ollie! 🥹

His last session was genuinely enjoyable for BOTH of us, and Dani couldn’t be prouder of him. ❤️

There’s still work to do, but progress isn’t always linear.

Because successful grooming isn’t just about how a dog LOOKS. It’s about how they FEEL. 🐾❤️

Just look at this handsome boy! 😍😍

Blu, the beautiful Staffie cross, came to visit Kara for a lovely pamper session, and what an absolute sweetheart he is! 🥹❤️

A true gentle giant with the most gorgeous face and such a lovely nature! 🥰 He really is one of those boys you just want to cuddle all day long! 🐾

Kara had the pleasure of giving this handsome chap some well-deserved TLC, and we think you’ll agree he’s an absolute stunner! 🤩💙

Thank you for being such a lovely boy, Blu! We can’t wait for more cuddles on your next visit! 🥰🐶

Wakefield Council has proposed removing the current two hours of free parking, stating that its review found little impact on town-centre footfall.
