What does it take to build a dog who wants to work with you and can still listen when the feelings get big?

How we play, reward, guide and communicate all contribute to that picture. So does the emotional atmosphere we create when we’re together.

On my Relationship and Communication within Dog Sport Training day, we’ll explore how these things connect—and how to apply them to your own dog.

Through discussion and practical sessions, we’ll look at building desire, developing understanding and teaching control while keeping the relationship at the centre.

Open to all dog sports and levels, with handler and spectator places available.

I love this moment. The routine is finished, we’re listening to the judge, and there’s this lovely, soft connection between us.

That relationship sits at the centre of everything I do with my dogs, and it’s what we’ll be exploring at my upcoming workshop.

Every dog brings something different to training. Some bring huge enthusiasm and need help finding control. Others need us to find what excites them, build confidence, or make the work easier to understand.

Recognising what the dog in front of you needs, and adapting how you work together, is central to my approach.

This workshop is a chance to take a closer look at your own partnership: how you play, reward, guide and respond to your dog, and how those interactions shape your sport training.

We’ll combine theory and discussion with individual practical sessions, applying the ideas to each dog and handler.

All dog sports and levels of experience are welcome. Spectators will be included in the discussion throughout the day.

Your dog can know all the exercises….but how does it feel to train together?

That’s what we’ll be exploring at my Relationship and Communication within Dog Sport Training workshop on Saturday 10 October.

How do we build a dog who wants to participate? How do we make our communication clearer? And how does our own emotional state influence the dog in front of us?

These things run through every part of our training, from the way we play together to the way we step into a competition ring.

The day will combine an in-depth discussion of the approach with practical work with the handler dogs, connecting the ideas to real training situations.

Spectators will be included throughout the day, so you can come without your dog and still take plenty back to your own training.
