Enrichment isn't just for dogs!

I recently gave a couple of the awesome Pickpocket Foragers to my friend for her beautiful rescue cat Merlin, and he absolutely loves them!

Enrichment activities are a great way to encourage natural behaviours and provide mental stimulation for all species, not only our dogs.

Its lovely finding simple ways to make our animals day more engaging and rewarding.

I am often asked if children can come along to training too.
Absolutely they can and they often make brilliant trainers too!

When children are involved in reward based training, it helps build confidence and a stronger bond between them and their dog.

If you have more than one child, or younger children attending it can really help to have another adult there as support. One adult can focus helping the pup and training, while the other can help keep the children engaged in a positive way.

"Can children come to training sessions as well as the adult in the family?" Is a common question.

Absolutely they can - and they often make brilliant trainers too.

When children are involved in reward based training it helps build calm communication, confidence, and a stronger bond between them and their dogs. Dogs learn that listening to children can be rewarding and predictable, while children learn how to guide their pup kindly and clearly.

Phew what a whirlwind of a day!!

A huge thank you to everyone who joined in the fun dog show, had a go at doggy detective, gave the hoopers course a go, or guessed the number of treats in the jar at the mayday fair organised in aid of Carterton & Witney branch of Save the Children

We were so caught up in the day that we completely forgot to take photos of all of our lucky winners, but congratulations to each and every one of you!

We did manage to capture our Best In Show winners, Ava and Luna, who were fantastic on the day!

And a big well done to Ollie, who guessed 1,110 - just 10 off the actual count of 1,120. An impressive effort!

A special mention to our child's best friend winners, Mia, Willow and Chester, and all the lovely help that Chester provides.

It was so tricky to make a decision as all of the dogs were wonderful!
