To all our valued clients,

We’d like to address a rumour we’ve recently heard regarding a change in ownership. We want to reassure everyone that there have been no changes to our ownership or management team.

The only changes taking place are exciting improvements to our building and facilities as part of our ongoing refurbishment. We remain open and operating as normal throughout this time.

Unfortunately, our sign was recently stolen, but a new one will be installed very soon.

We truly appreciate your patience and support while these works are being completed, with renovations expected to finish in the coming weeks. Thank you for continued support — we can’t wait to welcome you into our refreshed space soon! 💚💙

☀️ Hot weather pet safety ☀️

As temperatures rise this weekend, it’s important to help keep your pets safe and cool 🐶🐱

Heatstroke can happen quickly and can be life-threatening. Pets cannot sweat like humans and rely mainly on panting to cool themselves down.

Signs of heatstroke:
🚨 Excessive panting or difficulty breathing
🚨 Drooling, lethargy or weakness
🚨 Vomiting or diarrhoea
🚨 Wobbliness, collapse or seizures

Higher risk pets include:
⚠️ Flat-faced breeds
⚠️ Elderly or very young pets
⚠️ Overweight pets
⚠️ Thick-coated breeds
⚠️ Pets with heart or breathing problems

If you suspect heatstroke:
💧Get someone to call your vets
💧Pour, hose or if possible immerse the pet in very cold water under constant supervision
💧Do not drape in towels and leave them in situ. Keep the cold water flowing.
💧Move to a cool, shaded area
💧Prepare to transport to vets in a cold, air conditioned car

Prevention tips:
✅ Walk dogs early morning or later in the evening
✅ Avoid hot pavements — if it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for paws
✅ Make sure pets always have access to fresh water and shade
✅ Use cooling mats, fans or damp towels to help keep them comfortable
✅ Never leave pets in parked cars, even for a few minutes
✅ Take extra care with rabbits, guinea pigs and indoor pets during warm weather

Stay safe and enjoy the sunshine responsibly 🩷

The time has come once again for the Parkside team to swap our crocs for hiking boots as we take on another fundraising challenge for Wallington Animal Rescue (WAR)!

This June, the staff at Parkside will be tackling a 20km coastal hike from Winchelsea to Hastings to help raise money for this incredible charity. WAR is a non-profit voluntary organisation dedicated to rescuing and caring for domestic animals across the Wallington, Sutton, and Carshalton areas.

We are able to witness first-hand the amazing work WAR does to support vulnerable animals and give them the care and second chances they deserve. Through this fundraiser, we hope to help them continue their life-saving efforts.

Every donation, no matter how big or small, will make a real difference and would mean so much to both us and the animals in WAR’s care. If you’re able to support us, we would be incredibly grateful.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

🚨 Important Update: Changes to Pet Travel Rules (Effective 22nd April 2026) 🚨

We’d like to inform all our clients of an important change to pet travel regulations starting today.

As of 22nd April 2026, Great Britain (GB) residents can no longer use an EU pet passport to travel to the EU. EU pet passports will now only be issued to individuals whose primary residence is within the EU. This means they should not be used by those with holiday homes or who travel to the EU on a seasonal basis.

🐾 What does this mean for you?
If you are planning to travel to the EU with your pet, you will now need an Animal Health Certificate (AHC) issued by an Official Veterinarian.

GB residents can still use an existing EU pet passport for their return journey back to Great Britain.

✈️ Before you travel:
• Check the latest guidance on GOV.UK
• Review the specific entry requirements for your destination country
• Allow plenty of time to arrange vaccinations and documentation

📞 Our team is here to help—please contact the practice if your pet requires an Animal Health Certificate or rabies vaccination for travel.

Let’s make sure your pets are fully prepared for safe and stress-free journeys 🐶🐱

It’s National Veterinary Receptionist Week, and we’re shining a well-deserved spotlight on the incredible team at our front desk 🐾💙

Thank you for being the reassuring voice on the phone, the welcoming face at the front desk, and the organisers behind every smooth-running day.

Especially during our recent building works, your resilience, flexibility, and good humour have made all the difference. You’ve kept everything running, supported our clients, and continued to care for our patients without missing a beat.

Happy National Veterinary Receptionist Week! 🐶🐱✨
