Today is a wonderful reminder that even the smallest act of kindness can make a big difference, especially to an animal waiting for care, comfort or a loving home.

You could support a local animal charity by:

Back-to-school season brings a big change at home, and some pets may struggle when their favourite people are suddenly away for longer periods.

Signs of separation anxiety can include:

👉 Excessive barking, whining or meowing

👉 Destructive behaviour

👉 Toileting inside the home

👉 Pacing, trembling or restlessness

👉 Refusing food when left alone

These behaviours are not signs of “bad behaviour.” Your pet may be feeling worried or unsettled.

Speak to us if you notice sudden or severe changes, so your pet can receive the right support.

Seeing your pet fit can be frightening, but staying calm can help keep them safe. 🧠

During a seizure, avoid putting your hands near your pet’s mouth, do not try to restrain them, and move furniture or objects away if you can. Keep the room quiet and dim, and time how long the seizure lasts. Try to make a video of the seizure, if you can.

Once it has passed, your pet may seem confused, wobbly or unsettled. This can be normal, but they should still be checked by a vet, especially if this is their first seizure.

Please contact us urgently if your pet has a seizure lasting more than a few minutes, has repeated seizures, struggles to recover, or you are worried at any point. We are here to help.

Toxoplasmosis is often mentioned in relation to cats, but it is important to know that your cat is not automatically a risk.

Cats only shed toxoplasma eggs for a short period after becoming infected, and many indoor cats who do not hunt or eat raw meat are at very low risk of infection.

There is no need to panic, avoid your cat, or consider rehoming them.

With a few simple precautions, you can continue to care for your cat safely:

🐾 Keep your cat indoors where possible

🐾 Avoid feeding them with raw meat

🐾 Clean litter trays daily

🐾 Wear gloves when cleaning litter trays if you are pregnant or if your health is debilitated

🐾 Wash your hands after cleaning litter trays or handling your cat’s food
