RIP my beautiful Alfie 🕊️🌈
I am beyond devastated to have lost my absolute heart horse tonight, my beautiful coloured Alfie. A night I didn't expect and I didn't expect to lose Alfie before Bay, my lovely 35yo. But tonight the universe was cruel to him and I.
It's stupid O'clock and I can't sleep, I don't want to sleep cos when I close my eyes I just see Alfie.
My heart actually hurts, and I will never have another horse like him. Beautiful inside and out. An absolute rock, a pleasure to hack out, bomb proof and not a plod - but just THE BEST horse you or anyone could ever want. The manners of a saint and he just had such a lovely energy about him that everyone that met him just loved him. He was a great people horse and loved people (obviously on the hope that they be carrying treats). Even at the end he just wanted recovery mash, which he adored. So cruel and unjust to be taken from us today. The hardest decision I have ever had to make.
My journey with horses, I fear is coming to an end and I have no idea of how to cope. Horses are my life, my passion, my career, my reason to get up out of bed everyday... and now ... just so heartbroken 💔
I don't know how Bay will cope now and at the minute he seems settled in his stable, but tomorrow...?
I regret working all the time (to afford horses) and not spending enough time with him - but I loved him so, so much. Horse of a lifetime and now, how a few hours can change your life and now he is gone, life will never be the same again.
Spend as much time with your horses as you can and hug them just a little more and just be present with them.
Just love this video of him, only taken a few weeks ago, looking fabulous and excited about new grass ❤️
