HE MADE IT 🥳 Cheez has completed his FIP treatment and is BACK in the cafe for cuddles and playtime!! ✨
He has one final full spectrum bloods to triple check everything, but his last 2 full panels came back perfect, he has put on weight, hasn’t had fluid for months, has completed his 84day treatment, and has been slowly integrated back to the cat crew upstairs areas over the last month 🫶🏻 (as well as meeting the newbies - stay tuned for more 👀
This is a massive win for him, and us all here at CTCC as we were honestly struggling to find hope around the time of diagnosis, as our experience with FIP last year devastated us with the loss of Bao 🖤 So we could not be more proud of our CheezieWiggs for pulling through ✨
Come say hi to him and welcome him back with all the love!

🌈 Happy Pride! 🌈

At Canterbury Tails, Pride isn’t just something we celebrate one day a year; kindness, acceptance and creating a space where everyone belongs is something we build every day.

But today especially we’re also celebrating something very important…

🎂 Happy 8th Birthday to Waffle! 🎂

Our weird little guy has had a bit of a rollercoaster year health-wise (lots of pancreatic issues), but we’re so proud of how far he’s come. After everything he’s been through, it’s great to see him chunking up, feeling more comfortable, with more life in him again.

So while we’re celebrating Canterbury Pride today, we’re also celebrating Waffle, his resilience, and another year of being one of the most wonderfully odd little boys we know. ❤️

Please join us in wishing Mr Wiffwaff a very happy birthday! 🎉🐾

Here’s to another year of yelling and slinky wrists 💅

3 days before our 3rd birthday feels like the right time to share the 3 big things we haven’t had the strength to fully speak about yet.
We’ve touched on our “terrible twos” over the last year - & while there have been so many positives too, there were lots of curveballs & stresses, which included three huge losses that deeply impacted us behind the scenes.
You already know about Figgy. 🖤 His heart condition & sudden loss shook us enormously.
But shortly afterwards, we also lost Bao. 🖤
Last summer, Bao developed FIP - something we had never dealt with before. At the time, we knew very little about the disease, as sadly awareness & understanding around FIP in the UK is still limited.
His diagnosis took longer than ideal & while we began treatment & started seeing improvements, we believe the delay, & possible underlying condition from him being a product of inbreeding, ultimately took its toll on his little body.
He had scans, medication, blood tests & check-ups. For a while things genuinely seemed hopeful - he was eating, playing, gaining weight & acting more like himself. But despite a positive health check on Tuesday, everything changed by Thursday morning. That afternoon, Bao passed away in owner Pip’s arms, after his body rapidly shut down.
Losing Bao so suddenly, just when things were starting to look positive, only a few short weeks after losing Figgy, all while Barley, Waffle & Marmalade were also in treatment for chronic & serious conditions, just completely rocked us, especially cafe owners Pip & Vik. Honestly, we just never had the strength to share it officially.
And Tootsie 🖤
While not a café cat, she was part of Pip’s life for 18 years - from age 12 to 30. A constant in her childhood home, a staple of the family, through school, uni, & adulthood, always present.
Although at 18, age had started catching up with her, losing Tootsie was another heartbreak Pip wasn’t ready for.
We believe in the rule of threes.
3 big losses.
3 big years.
Figgy. Bao. Tootsie.
Before stepping into our “thriving threes” manifestation, the time is right to share.
Each were, are, all deeply loved and will always be part of our family 🖤🐾

Cheez Update! He is doing really well 🫶🏻
6 weeks ago, Cheez was diagnosed with wet FIP. This is the mutation of a covid virus in cats, and up until recent years, was a death sentence. Cats can be (and many are) carriers of the virus, but it never mutates and the cat is completely unaffected. It’s still not known what triggers FIP to develop, but factors that increase the possibility do include age and breed, and Cheez started showing signs early March. Quick treatment is essential, but unfortunately as FIP is not well understood, diagnosis can be tricky, and the treatment very expensive, plus very long (84 days!). We are over half way with his treatment now, and while things were very uncertain at the start, he is improving daily. He has eeekly blood tests, special diet, and has been kept in quarantine. His latest bloods came back ALL normal, he has no fluid in his belly, has put on weight, and the vets are now happy for 2 weekly bloods. We will continue to care and monitor him, and he’s still got a while left of treatment, but we are feeling positive. This is so so important to us not just for Cheez, but because we have history with FIP, which we will share more on tomorrow 🖤
