Lots of firsts for the youngest in our puppy class, a gorgeous spaniel - too cute!!!

He jouned the 2nd session for this group, it was his first time out and about after his vaccinations. Ensuring he felt safe was our no 1 priority, enjoyment coming a very close 2nd.

First steps after getting out of the car, he was a little unsure about the feeling of the driveway under his paws, it only took moments before he was confidently walking along 🤩

He was happy to approach people but was more relaxed with space to watch the other puppies

He was soon taking part in the exercises with his family

He had a couple of power naps too

On leaving he managed the step over the base of the barn door all by himself, having been given a helping hand during the breaks, lovely progress in such a short space of time, nice!

Taken today off rather than the usual Tuesday.
Enjoyed the hellos from the most gorgeous of sheepdogs, she's a favourite 😍 One of several top treats when out and about this morning, good to start to the day!

Wellbeing includes emotional and physical health, and each impacts the other, they are inseparable!!!

For me asking questions is key in the early stages of enquiries to try to ascertain what will be the best support required for a potential client and their dog(s)

I might not always be the the best person, and referring a case may be better for investigating and addressing the concerns.
Sharing information between professionals can make such a difference. I talk with vets, refer onto Clinical Animal Behaviourists, and or Veterinary Behaviourists, who are registered with The Fellowship of Animal Behaviour Clinicians and or The Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors - APBC The good news is that pet insurance companies often cover the costs of behaviour and veterinary professionals who are registered with reputable organisations

I don't want anyone to take their dog to someone who may not consider the causes behind a behaviour, to spend a lot of money and be in exactly the same situation, or even worse have a dog feel more apprehensive or fearful as they have been 'trained' by intimidation

“ACE is about learning to really observe the dog in front of you. We slow things down, notice the little things, explore movement, posture, balance, environment and choice and start piecing together what those observations might be telling us about the individual dog. And there are usually plenty of those little "ohhh, that makes sense moments along the way."
You don't need to be a trainer or behaviour professional. You don't need loads of prior knowledge. You just need to be curious about dogs and want to understand them a little better.
And if you're bringing your dog, they don't need to be able to “do” anything either. They get to be themselves while we learn from them.
Handler and spectator places are available.”

It's a genuine pleasure to host Deanna, a great experience for the dogs who participate and their people.

Elsa has been here a year, and it's World Animal Day!

Home improvements have been going on, when there's been anyone working inside she chooses to remain outside. Her suspicion of new objects in the house has reminded me of how anxious she was on arrival when she spent over a week of sleeping in the add-on, bless her, fleeing if I went anywhere near the back door. What a change in her within the first months, she'll quite happily share my bed, lie on my lap and monster me with affection. In the home she's often not at ease with other people, but out & about she's doing great, she soon makes new friends, with dogs and people, she can be quite the flirty fl**zy!

So good to see her grow in confidence and she especially loves being with her best pal Nelly.
She's finding Osh a bit of a shadow annoying at the moment, she's in season. I don't think he's her type, but still very pleased that he had a vasectomy early this year

I adore her!

Elsa has been sounding like a steam engine for the last 2 hours
She is uneasy about home improvements and an unfamailiar person in our home.

Many people can mistakenly believe, or are told that a dog is smiling, when they are showing signs that they are not coping well with a situation or interaction.
Elsa later decided to move to me for affection, over the months she has built her trust of me and we have a good bond, moving into her space could have increased her anxiety
Osian wants to join in with the work and Nelly is laying on her side, looking relaxed
