World Environment Day is a good time to talk about the environmental side of how we work. 🀝

Managing environmental impact is an important part of how we operate day-to-day, and we continually work towards the targets set within our environmental policy and management systems.

That includes complying with relevant environmental legislation, reviewing working practices and investing in control measures that support responsible operations across the business.

Tough material? π™‰π™šπ™«π™šπ™§ an issue with the Everising E 530. πŸ˜…

Our E-530 is working through a 3inch 316L round bar, and even with a material like this it produces clean, controlled cuts that keep bar ends accurate and ready for the next stage of processing.

That consistency means the material arrives in a condition that's easier for our customers to work with, whether it's heading into CNC machining, fabrication or further processing, helping reduce variation, cut down extra prep work and keep production moving without unnecessary delays!

Material selection is becoming more application specific than ever!

Choosing the wrong alloy does not just affect performance, it can also lead to unnecessary cost, delays and rework further down the line.

That's why working with a specialist supplier like Chase Alloys matters, not only for stock availability, but for understanding which material is actually right for the job.

Another overnight run through the saws!

These EN8 round bars have been processed on our Amada bar sawing machines and are ready to be crated and shipped out first thing this morning.

With nine in-house saws running, this is how mornings often start here, with jobs turned around quickly, even outside normal hours when needed.

Another load processed and ready to go. πŸ‘Š

Choosing materials for a job can seem straightforward, but there are a few common mistakes engineers still come across.

It' worth knowing what they are so you can avoid them later on. πŸ‘‡

Is imported material actually that cheap?

On paper it can look like a saving at the start, but the extra costs often show up later once production is underway. Delays, inconsistent material quality, additional processing, and parts not performing as expected can all start adding time and cost back into the job.

Where material is sourced from matters more than people sometimes realise. As a UK-based metal stockholder, we help keep supply more predictable, reduce uncertainty around lead times and give manufacturers quicker access to the material they need when schedules are tight.

Material choice is important, but choosing the right supplier matters just as much. Keeping your supply chain closer to home can make a real difference once production gets underway.

Supply chains are being tested now more than ever, and it's starting to show who can and can't keep up!

When materials are late or unavailable, it doesn't just slow a job down, it puts pressure on deadlines and customer relationships. Being able to count on your supplier is what keeps work moving.

That's where π™¬π™š make a difference. 🀝

With over 500 tonnes of stock on hand, along with sawing, cutting and processing running around the clock, plus our own fleet that can provide next day delivery, we're set up to keep material moving when it's needed.

If your current setup is holiding you back, it might be time to look at another option.

Good conductivity, easy to work with and built to last, copper is one of those materials that just gets the job done. πŸ‘

It's widely used across electrical, construction and general engineering applications, thanks to its strength, corrosion resistance and ability to handle demanding environments.

Keeping waste and environmental impact as low as possible is a key part of how we work, and Climate Change Day is a good reminder of why that matters. 🌍

We work in line with all relevant environmental legislation, supported by our environmental management system, which helps guide day-to-day decisions across the business.

In practice, that means cutting and processing metal to order so material is only used when needed, minimising unnecessary transport where possible, using more fuel-efficient vehicles and working with suppliers who take a similar approach.

We also keep our environmental policy under regular review to make sure we continue improving wherever we can.
