Residents across Cannock, Hednesford, Rugeley and the wider Staffordshire area are being urged to prepare for strong winds as Storm Austen moves across the UK.

The Met Office has extended its yellow wind warning to include Staffordshire and the wider West Midlands on Friday 23 October, from 10am until 9pm.

🌧️ WHAT TO EXPECT

The strong winds could bring:

* 🌬️ Disruption from gusty winds, particularly on exposed routes.
* 🚗 Possible travel delays, including for high-sided vehicles.
* 🌳 Fallen branches and damage to fences or other outdoor structures.
* ⚡ Possible short-term power cuts.
* 🌧️ Rain and difficult driving conditions.

🏡 HOW TO PREPARE

Residents are advised to secure loose outdoor items, including garden furniture, bins and trampolines, and check travel arrangements before setting off.

Motorists should take extra care, particularly when driving on exposed roads.
