⚠️ Grooming terminology matters ⚠️
If you ask your groomer for a lamb trim, but what you actually want is a short pet trim with a fluffy face, those are two completely different grooms.
A traditional poodle lamb trim involves a clean face and feet, a shorter body and fuller shaped legs.
So if you have a very specific look in your head, please bring a photo.
Because saying “do what you think” or “use your judgement” and then deciding afterwards that you wanted something completely different puts both the owner and groomer in a difficult position.
Groomers can only work from the brief they are given.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with preferring a different style — but changing your mind afterwards doesn’t automatically mean the groom was done incorrectly.
And while we’re on the subject… grooming prices aren’t just for “a haircut”.
You’re paying for the consultation, bathing, drying, coat preparation, clipping, sc******ng, styling, nails, ears, professional equipment, products, training, insurance and the time and skill involved in working safely with your dog.
You are always welcome to ask what a groom will cost before booking, and I will always be upfront about my prices. But agreeing to a service and price beforehand is very different from deciding afterwards that the service should have cost less.
Reference photos are ALWAYS welcome at Phoebe & Co, and I would much rather spend an extra five minutes at the start of an appointment making sure we are completely on the same page.
Clear communication = happier owners, happier groomers and happier dogs 🐾
