A perfect morning for a longer walk in the fields and woods this morning with my boy Gus and our long standing pack member, Cali. Part working Lab, part Vizsla, 100% industrial-strength attachment.

She’s been part of Gus and I’s walking crew since she was a pup. Intensely affectionate, permanently delighted to see you and equipped with enough energy to power a large city, Cali doesn’t understand why on earth you would want any more than 2mm space between each other, “Velcro dog” doesn’t quite cover it. She’s more superglue with legs.

She loves a ball, loves an adventure, loves being involved in absolutely everything and I never pass up the chance to kidnap her back to mine after a walk.

Best of all, she seems to put a wee bit of extra pep in old Gus’s step. He adores having her along, I adore having her along, and judging by her face, Cali considers the whole arrangement entirely satisfactory.

Cracking walk with my two favourite adventurers this morning. One distinguished older gentleman and one beautiful, affectionate ginger lunatic. 😂❤️

Delighted to introduce, Blu the Cavachon. Small in stature. Absolutely mighty in personality.

Blu is the newest wee member of the Wynd pack and appears to have been born with the firm belief that every person and every animal is simply a friend he hasn’t met yet. He is pure joy in a tiny, yet robust, furry body.

He loves a snack, quite passionately judging by the longing stare when something edible is afoot. He loves getting out for a proper run, presumably with Born Free playing dramatically in his head whilst his ears flap majestically behind him in the wind.

Rain, however, is unacceptable.

I discovered this when Blu took one look outside, declined the invitation entirely, and had to be physically lifted from the house, carried about 20 feet down the road and placed on the ground. He then continued his walk reluctantly and with the unmistakable air of someone who would be submitting a formal complaint later.

Cheeky, affectionate, sociable, hilarious and completely full of beans.

I absolutely bloody adore him already. ❤️

Welcome to the pack, Blu. 🐶🐾

Two seperate walks, two completely different experiences

Gus and Fletcher had a frolic around the fields under dramatic skies and lovely sunshine. Poor Hazel had a slinky shouldered run around the fields, under thunderous rain, attempting to bury herself in long grass to avoid it 😆

Hello doggo and animal lovers! With more hot weather coming in, I thought I’d share some of the things I do to help keep my animals cool and comfortable. Please add any of your own tips too! ❣️

- in the morning (before the sun comes up if possible) close all windows, curtains and blinds

- even blocking the sun with windshield protectors, cardboard or tinfoil on the sun facing windows can stop heat building up inside

- get fans going

- Put several bowls of fresh water around the house and garden. Keeping bottles or pitchers of cold water in the fridge is even better for topping up.

- Cooling mats or a cool tiled floor to lie on.

- freeze favourite treats in blocks of ice. Gus loves peanut butter. A Tupperware tub filled with water and treats and frozen gives them a nice big block to lick. You can also dilute with some chicken / beef stock.

- also a larger block of ice placed in a water bowl is better than lots of ice cubes for keeping drinking water cool

- frozen carrots or watermelon normally goes down a treat too.

- A shallow paddling pool/washing-up basin for dogs who enjoy water.

- A Gentle sprinkle with the hose to the body with cool tap water.

- sprinkling a shady part of the grass or patio for them to lay in

- Walk very early or late—or skip it entirely if it’s still too warm or humid.

- Always check the pavement with your palm or back of your hand for seven seconds.

- Avoid energetic games, especially fetch, even in the garden.

- Never leave them in cars, conservatories, tents or enclosed porches—not even briefly.

- DO NOT wrap doggo in a wet towel or T-shirt as this can actually trap heat.

Hope some of these tips are useful and help you and your animals enjoy the lovely weather safely and comfortably ❣️

Beautiful review from a friend and client. I was so honoured that she trusted me with her wee furry family member. I fell in love and when I had to take Sonny back home to his lovely family, he left a massive, poodle shaped hole behind 💕

🐾 Meet Sonny 🐾

This is Sonny. A tiny poodle with the confidence of a Great Dane and absolutely no concept of personal boundaries.

If I sit down, he’s on me. If I stand up, he’s attached to my ankle. If I go for a shower… he stations himself outside like a concerned lifeguard making sure I don’t drown.

He’s also a fully committed thief. Socks? His. T-shirts? His. Towel while I’m trying to dry myself? Absolutely not. Apparently I’m expected to air dry while he makes off with it.

And if he hears a noise he doesn’t approve of, he lets out these tiny little chuffs that say, “Excuse me… I don’t like whatever that was. Please deal with it.” Never a dramatic bark. Just quiet judgement.

His favourite hobby (other than petty theft) is dancing around on two legs whenever he’s excited, looking like he’s permanently auditioning for Britain’s Got Talent.

Honestly, he’s one of those dogs that’s impossible not to fall for. Ridiculously clever, unbelievably affectionate, permanently under your feet, and somehow manages to get away with all of the above simply because he’s outrageously cute.

I’m fairly certain if Sonny could talk, he’d spend 90% of the day telling me what I’m doing wrong, and how amazing I am doing it. . . .whilst stealing my clothes and dignity. ❤️🐾

We have the delightful, one dog hurricane, Dobbie for a few days. I say hurricane but he’s spent a lot of the time like this the last 24hrs . . .

When you absolutely WILL NOT walk in the rain.

Lady Hazel pulling us into shelter during the rain. It has been suggested I may need to start laying my jacket over puddles for her 🤣
