WE ARE RECRUITING!

CSV is a small, independent family-owned practice. Our main surgery, Clarendon Street Vets, has been looking after the pets of central Cambridge for over 60 years. Our branch surgery, Church Street Vets, opened in Stapleford, 3 miles south of Cambridge, in March 2025. We are looking for a new Registered Veterinary Nurse.

We are a small, friendly team of 5 vets, 4 nurses, and 8 reception/admin staff. Each team member brings their own set of skills and really matters to the functioning of the whole. We offer a work environment that is welcoming, supportive, and flexible.

The nursing team is an integral part of our practice. You will have the opportunity to get involved in all aspects of nursing, fully utilizing your skills, and making the role your own. We welcome enthusiasm and new ideas, as we strive for continuous improvement in both how we operate and the service we provide.

We are offering a competitive salary, a four-day week (plus just 1 in 8 Saturday mornings) funded CPD and professional fees.

To find out more, please email [email protected] or call Harriet or Nancy for an informal chat on 01223 359021.

🐾 Meet the Team Monday 🐾

Meet Daisy, the newest member of our reception team! 💙

Before joining Clarendon Street Vets, Daisy worked as a kennel assistant at Waggy's. She hopes to train as a Registered Veterinary Nurse before pursuing her ambition of working as an RVN in the Army.

Daisy's favourite part of the job is welcoming your pets when they arrive for their appointments and making sure they get plenty of TLC as they recover from sedation or anaesthesia. 🐶✨

At home, Daisy is kept busy by Albert the Miniature Schnauzer and her two Mini Lop-eared bunnies, Penelope and Delilah. Despite her love of her own pets, her favourite animal is actually the incredible hammerhead shark! 🦈

When she's not at the surgery, you'll usually find Daisy paddleboarding, playing football for a local second division ladies' team, or spending time with her family and pets.

Please join us in giving Daisy a very warm welcome! 🐾

We had lots of fun at the Stapleford Village Weekend a few weeks ago.

Unfortunately the dog show had to be cancelled as it was hot hot hot. Luckily Africa, the Sulcata Tortoise was happy to take centre stage. The Sulcata Tortoise originates from Sub-Saharan Africa, so the hotter the better as far as Africa is concerned.

She kept us busy doing laps of the Stapleford Recreation Ground, and our 'guess the weight of the tortoise' competition proved very popular too.

It was great to be part of this fun event alongside all the fantastic music and dancing, stalls and games. We are already looking forward to next year's event!

We are delighted to announce our new partnership with VidiVet, a free online veterinary triage service available exclusively to our clients.

There are few things more worrying than when your pet becomes unwell in the middle of the night and you're unsure whether they need urgent veterinary care. If you need advice while our practice is closed, simply download the free VidiVet app to your phone. You can upload photos, videos, and a description of your concerns, and an RCVS-qualified veterinary surgeon will respond within 20 minutes.

They will assess your pet's condition and advise whether they need immediate veterinary attention or whether it is safe to monitor them at home until the practice reopens and we can see them.

We advise clients to download the app ahead of any unforeseen circumstances, and you can do so, here:

We partner with hundreds of vet practices across the UK who offer VidiVet to their clients for free or as part of a pet health plan. It’s their way of giving you extra peace of mind, day or night. Search for your practice below.

🐾 Meet the Team Monday 🐾

This week, we're introducing one of our longest-serving team members... Samba! 🐱

Samba first arrived at the practice as a stray around 12 years ago and, much to everyone's delight, decided she rather liked it here and never left. Not long after settling in, Samba gave birth to six kittens, including Calypso (Lypsy), who stayed by her mum's side at the practice until eventually deciding to move in with our receptionist, Sue!

As Clarendon Street Vet's resident feline, Samba can usually be found snoozing on the back of the sofa or perched on her favourite windowsill, keeping a close eye on everything happening outside. She takes her neighbourhood watch duties very seriously and can often be heard chirping at the birds on the rooftops opposite.

While she's more than happy to supervise the practice, Samba has one firm rule: she prefers admiration from a distance when it comes to medical procedures! Despite living at the practice for all these years, she still makes her feelings very clear whenever it's time for her monthly Solensia injection or any blood tests, often attempting a dramatic escape before negotiations can begin. 😹

Thankfully, what Samba lacks in enthusiasm for veterinary care, she more than makes up for with affection. When the reception area is nice and quiet, she'll often wander through to greet clients and enjoy a well-earned fuss from her many admirers.

Although she's highly unlikely to ever set paw in our Church Street clinic, Samba is very much part of the whole practice family and a much-loved member of the team. 🐾💛
