DO YOU STRUGGLE TO GET YOUR DOG'S ATTENTION? 🚫 🐕 You're not alone.

Many pet carers find that their dogs are so absorbed by what's going on around them that they struggle to focus on you and listen.

The 'Name Game' is a simple yet effective tool to have in the training bag when:

♡ You have a high energy puppy with socialisation being in the fourfront of their training but you'd like to start introducing simple training games outside too.

♡ Your dog gets distracted by other dogs running in the distance.

♡ You want your dog's attention before you ask them to stay/wait.

♡ You want your dog's attention before you ask your dog to come to you when called

♡ Your dog is nervous on walks and so you would like to use their name to positively and calmly guide them in a different direction to create distance to something, but without adding any tension from pulling on their lead/harness (and therefore adding tension to them)

The Name Game is the best way to get your dog's attention for EVERYTHING.

When training, always think:

🥎 No distractions to start then gradually increase

🥎 Small little steps 🐾🐾🐾

🥎 Set your dog up for success with little wins 🐕

🥎 End every mini training session on a high so they are excited for the next 😀

'Save' the post to try it out later and 'follow' me to see how we get on next week when using Lily's name around real distractions out on walks.

🚨: EMERGENCY DOG LOCKDOWN ROUTINE 🚨

Temperatures are soaring up to 40°C. Our dogs simply cannot handle this extreme heat. Heatstroke is a medical emergency that can kill a healthy dog in less than 15 minutes.

Please SAVE this post, SCREENSHOT IT, and SHARE it to your stories right now. It could literally save a life today. 🐾👇

🏠 THE LOCKDOWN ROUTINE:
1️⃣ Lock down the house by 8 AM: Close windows and curtains early to trap the cool night air inside. No indoor cooking!

2️⃣ Cancel all daytime walks: Exercise in this heat is fatal. Use the 5-second pavement test if you must step outside at dawn.

3️⃣ Cool from the bottom up: Let them lie ON TOP of damp towels. Never drape wet towels over their backs—this traps heat like a greenhouse.
4️⃣ Protect vulnerable breeds: Flat-faced breeds, seniors, and puppies need 100% air-conditioned or cooled spaces.

5️⃣ Know the signs: Frantic panting, sticky drool, or stumbling means danger. Cool them immediately with running cool water (not freezing), then call the vet.

If in doubt, don’t go out. Let’s look out for our furry best friends today. ❤️

🚨 UK HEATWAVE WARNING: TEMPERATURES ARE SOARING up to 40°C. 🚨

Our dogs cannot handle this extreme heat. Heatstroke can kill a dog in less than 15 minutes. Please save, screenshot, and share this vital lockdown routine to keep your dogs safe today! 👇

🏠 1. LOCK DOWN THE HOUSE (BY 8:00 AM)

Shut it out: Close all windows and pull curtains shut before 8:00 AM to trap the cool night air inside.

Fan Strategy: Position fans blowing directly at hot curtains to stop glass and fabric from radiating heat into the room.
Chilled Air: Place frozen water bottles wrapped in towels in front of your fans.
No Cooking: Do not use the oven or cooker indoors—it introduces unnecessary heat.

🐕 2. STRICT WALKING RESTRICTIONS
Cancel Walks:

Dogs do not die from missing a walk, but they WILL die from exercising in a heatwave. Keep them indoors.

VERY EARLY MORNING WALKS ONLY:

If you absolutely must venture out, do it at the crack of dawn when the air and pavement are at their coolest.
The 5-Second Test: Touch the pavement with the back of your hand. If it’s too hot for you for 5 seconds, it will severely burn their paws.

💦 3. HYDRATION & SAFE COOLING

Hydration Stations: Place extra water bowls in every room. Throw in ice cubes!
Damp Towels: Lay cooling mats or damp towels on the floor for them to lie ON TOP OF.

⚠️ CRITICAL WARNING:

NEVER drape wet towels OVER your dog's back. This traps heat against their skin like a greenhouse and accelerates heatstroke.

⚠️ 4. EXTRA VIGILANCE FOR HIGH-RISK DOGS

Flat-faced breeds (Pugs, Frenchies, Bulldogs) have compromised airways and can collapse in minutes.
Seniors, puppies, overweight dogs, or dogs with heart/lung conditions cannot regulate their temperatures and need maximum protection.

🚨 5. SPOTTING HEATSTROKE (EMERGENCY)

Watch for heavy, frantic panting, thick/sticky drool, stumbling, vomiting, or collapse.

🚑 IF YOU SUSPECT HEATSTROKE: COOL FIRST, VET SECOND!

Move them to a cool, shaded room.
Pour continuous streams of cool (NOT freezing) water over their body.
Keep a fan blowing over their wet fur to speed up cooling.
Call your vet immediately while continuing to cool them.
