🎉🐾 We’re 3! 🐾🎉

Today marks 3 years since we opened our doors, and what a wonderful three years it has been! 💙

From those very first days to where we are now, we’re incredibly grateful to every client who has trusted us with the care of their beloved pets. 🐶🐱🐰

🎂 Happy 3rd Birthday to us! 🎂

🐾 Betty & Nellie – Learning Through Play! 🐾

Play and enrichment are an important part of helping puppies 🐶 and kittens 🐱 grow into happy, confident adults.

Toys, food puzzles, sniffing games and exploring new things, keep their minds and bodies busy - and make learning fun!

Puppies and kittens naturally explore with their mouths. Providing safe toys to chew and play with, gives them an outlet for this behaviour and helps redirect biting and nibbling away from hands and furniture 🧸

We use lots of positive reinforcement - rewarding the behaviours we want with treats, praise or play ❤️

No punishment needed. If they get it wrong, we redirect them towards the right choice and reward them when they get it right 👍

🐾 Be patient, reward the good and keep it fun!

🐾 Meet Betty & Nellie! 🐾

We’re excited to introduce two new little faces - Betty the Border Terrier 🐶 and Nellie the Domestic Shorthair 🐱!

Over the coming months, we’ll be following them as they grow up, from their first vet visits and vaccinations to neutering, social visits and eventually adulthood.

We’ll share their milestones, adventures and plenty of cute moments along the way, as well as helpful tips on what to expect at each stage of your pet’s journey 🩵

🐾 Sweet Imvi’s Paw Surgery 🐾

Meet Imvi, an adorable 8-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier with the sweetest nature. ❤️

Imvi came to see us with a large mass on her right fore paw that had been gradually getting bigger. After assessing her, we recommended removing the mass to help keep her comfortable and to prevent it from causing further problems.

Imvi was a superstar throughout her treatment, and we successfully removed the mass. 🩺🐶

We’re so pleased with her progress and wish this lovely girl many more happy, comfortable walks. ❤️🌟🐾

🎉🐾 Meet Alicia our new Vet! 🐾🎉

We’re delighted to welcome Alicia Stephens to the Highgate Veterinary team. Alicia joined us in August after graduating from the University of Bristol and is looking forward to getting to know all our lovely clients and their pets.

Alicia enjoys all aspects of small animal practice, with a particular interest in medicine and surgery. Outside of work, she loves running, baking and spending time with her Border Collie, Ellie and her new rescue kitten Nellie 🐶🐱💕

Please join us in giving Alicia a very warm welcome to Highgate! 🩵

🐾💙 Fear-Free Nail Clips 💙🐾

Here’s beautiful Blue having his regular nail trim with our student vet nurse, Kaycee. 🐶✂️

As you can see from the video, Kaycee is taking things one nail at a time, while Blue enjoys lots of tasty treats from Mum to help make the experience as positive and rewarding as possible. 🦴✨

Kaycee noticed that Blue was a little more sensitive with his left paw and, when he pulled it away, she paused and went back to working on the paw he was more comfortable with.

We never force our patients. We use gentle, kind and fear-free methods, always paying attention to their body language and giving them the time they need. 🐾

🐾🐶 A huge thank you to everyone who came along to the very first Northstowe Dog Show last weekend! 🐶🐾

We had such a lovely time judging all the different categories and meeting so many gorgeous dogs and their wonderful owners ❤️

It was fantastic to see everyone enjoying themselves and making the day such a success.

Special congratulations to Ava the rescue dog for winning best in show 🏆🌟🥳

Here’s to doing it all again next year! 🎉🐕🐩

It’s Dudley’s birthday 🥳💙 We couldn’t let the occasion pass without giving him a little birthday shout-out! 🎂🐶

We’ve had the absolute pleasure of looking after Dudley since we opened nearly 3 years ago, and he really is such a sweet boy. 🥰
