⚠️ UK Equine Influenza Update - 28th May 2026 ⚠️

Since the beginning of April 2026, a total of 74 laboratory-confirmed EI outbreaks have been identified across 38 counties, including two new counties affected from the start of this outbreak period.

‼️ Although weekly reported outbreak numbers based on sampling date appear to be declining, continued vigilance is essential, as a similar pattern was observed in 2019 before a subsequent surge and peak in outbreaks and reporting delays or fatigue may also contribute to an apparent reduction in confirmed cases.

📌Our post here shows an overview of key information relating to the newly reported updates

📖 EIDS has produced a resource for vets summarising commercially available vaccines for horses in the United Kingdom.

It covers various infectious diseases, including EHV-1/-4, equine influenza, strangles (Streptococcus equi infection), equine viral arteritis, rotavirus and West Nile virus.

For each disease, a summary of all the available vaccines and how to use them is presented, alongside the best practice guidelines about vaccine use for each infectious disease.
