*Working GSD Rehoming*
Hey everyone!
We have a 5 year old female working line German Shepherd called Clara who urgently needs a new home.
*Details*
• Name: Clara (Originally Nala)
• Breed: GSD
• DOB: 23.05.21
• Microchipped
• Spayed
*Background*
She was originally placed with a family as a trained personal protection dog by Chaperone K9, but in reality she’s just lived as a family pet and has never actually been worked in protection. Because of that, a lot of the training is now very rusty, although the foundations are clearly still there.
Sadly, her owner is terminally ill and only has weeks left to live, so the rehoming has been rushed through under really difficult circumstances. She’s currently being fostered by a lovely family in Lightwater, but they live on a farm with chickens, cats, and other animals, and Clara has extremely high prey drive. Their terrier also keeps attacking her, so the whole environment is becoming very stressful and chaotic for everyone involved. They’re desperate to find the right home for her ASAP.
I’ve taken her for a few nights and taken her out with my dogs to assess her a bit more. She’s actually a really nice dog - very typical working GSD. She’s neutral / social with people, loves a head scratch, LOVES ball and generally unbothered by dogs. She’s pretty unfulfilled at the moment and also a little out of shape and definitely could do with a proper outlet and a bit of a fitness/diet reset.
Personally, I think she’d thrive with someone involved in PSA / or equally just an experienced working dog home looking for a solid companion.
If I had the room and didn’t have a cat myself, I’d honestly take her. Unfortunately I’m just not in a position to rehome another dog right now.
Does anyone know anyone suitable, or any reputable rescues/working dog people who may be able to help?
Any help or shares would be massively appreciated.
Thank you 🙏
