💛 A little update on my Golden Girl Ailis… 💛

After her third laser treatment today, I’m very happy to say that Ailis is healing really well! 🥰

Her wound is looking lovely, clean and so neat, which is really encouraging. ❤️

We’ve also had a change of dressing type today, as it seemed that the previous dressing was irritating her and making her uncomfortable. She now has a much looser and lighter dressing, and she already seems so much happier for it. 💛

Ailis is back in on Wednesday and again on Friday for more laser treatments, so we’re continuing to take things one day at a time and letting that little tail stump heal beautifully. 🥰

She’s now back home, chilling with her daughter Dana and her grandpup Cillian — surrounded by her family and exactly where she wants to be. ❤️🐾

She really is such a brave little Golden Girl. 👑💛

(Let’s hope my hospital appointment tomorrow is as positive as Ailis’ update today)

My Golden Girl, Ailis ❤️

Yesterday certainly wasn’t the Monday I had planned.

My own hospital appointment today has had to be rescheduled until later this week because my beautiful Ailis needed emergency surgery, so for now my place is right here at home with her. ❤️

Ailis developed a burst cyst on her tail and unfortunately she spent Saturday night licking and chewing at it we all slept. Sunday morning I cleaned and dressed it and took her to the vets yesterday, but we soon discovered that it was much more serious than we’d hoped.

The decision was made that she needed to have her tail amputated.

It’s been a worrying 24 hours, but thankfully my Golden Girl came through surgery well and had a reasonably decent night. She’s brighter this morning, which is such a relief. ❤️

She’ll be going back to the vets for a dressing change and some laser treatment which will hopefully help support her healing and recovery.

I’ve included a couple of photographs of Ailis’ tail below, for those who may be interested in seeing just how serious the injury had become.

What initially looked like a burst cyst had unfortunately developed into a much more significant wound after she had licked and chewed at it. Once the vets had examined her, it became clear that the kindest and safest option was to remove the affected section of her tail.

It’s hard to look at these photographs knowing that this was my girl, but I wanted to share them because things can change so quickly. Thankfully, she is now home, comfortable and brighter this morning. ❤️

So my own health update will have to wait a few more days.

Right now, it’s all about looking after my girl. 🥰🐾

Lots of rest, cuddles and being thoroughly spoiled for my beautiful Ailis. ❤️
