🎃 THE HALLOWEEN DECORATIONS ARE UP.
This month we're using the decorated playground to make novelty useful, not scary.
Very basically, counter-conditioning means changing how a dog FEELS about something by pairing it with something they already enjoy, such as food, sniffing, play or distance.
The aim isn't to drag a dog towards the spooky thing. Let them notice it at a distance where they can still think, then pair that sight with something good. Choice matters.
That can help dogs build more positive associations with unusual sights they may meet elsewhere, including decorations and guisers.
