DID YOU KNOW? πŸ€”πŸ€”πŸ€”

Fleas are very small insects that survive by drinking blood. You might have trouble spotting adult fleas on your pet, but β€œflea dirt”, the dark dusty droppings of adult fleas, is a sure indicator that your pet is infected.

Certain medications help kill fleas, or inhibit certain parts of their lifecycle.

If you need to purchase treatments for your pets, we'd be pleased to help!

DID YOU KNOW? πŸ€”πŸ€”πŸ€”

The Pembroke Welsh corgi was used for herding purposes – When the Vikings introduced this breed for thousands of years, they were used as herding dogs. Back then, corgi dogs would carry cattle from the villages all the way to the markets.

Feline hypertension is a common condition in older cats, often secondary to diseases like chronic kidney disease or hyperthyroidism, and can lead to serious organ damage if untreated.

This month, we're encouraging you to get your cat's blood pressure checked πŸ’‰πŸˆ

Measuring blood pressure only takes a few minutes using an inflatable cuff placed around one of your cat’s legs or tail. It is completely pain-free and is well tolerated by most cats. Your vet will also examine your cat’s eyes and is likely to take a blood sample to test for underlying disease.

If you'd like to book in for this then please give the practices a call on 01786 231010 (Stirling) or 01877 381213 (Callander)

Be aware if you're walking your dogs around the Loch 🐾

⚠️ Safety notice: Blue-green algae has been identified in Airthrey Loch. Please avoid all contact with the water until further notice.

Contact with the algae, and the toxins produced, can result in ill- health and can be fatal for small animals, including dogs. There is also a risk associated with the consumption of fish caught in the Loch at this time.

Algae blooms are common in lochs at this time of year, due to the warm and sunny weather, and where levels of nutrients are high in the water.

Please report any incidents involving contact with the loch to Security.
