☀️ Hot weather is here... and it can be dangerous for dogs.

If your dog seems overheated, move them somewhere cool, wet them with cool (not ice-cold) water, and contact your vet immediately.

⚠️ Signs of heat exhaustion include:
• Heavy panting
• Drooling
• Weakness or wobbling
• Vomiting or diarrhoea
• Bright red gums
• Collapse or seizures

Meet Rex 🐾

Rex regularly attends confidence clinic sessions with our nurse Cassie, where he’s been working hard on cooperative care training 💙

This type of training helps Rex voluntarily opt in to the treatments and handling he needs, making vet visits a more positive and stress-free experience for everyone involved 🩺✨

We’re so proud of the progress he’s making, and he always brings plenty of enthusiasm along with him to clinic visits! 🐶

Meet Eddie 🐾

Eddie first came to us after experiencing weakness and seizures, and was swiftly referred to Langford Vet Hospital, where he was diagnosed with Addison’s disease.

Fast forward to now, and Eddie pops in every month for his injection and blood tests like a total pro 💉🐾

We’re so happy to see him doing brilliantly, especially when there’s a squeaky ball involved! 🎾 Here he is turning our prep area into his own personal play zone while waiting for cuddles from the team.

Safe to say he’s stolen all of our hearts 💙

🐦 It’s fledgling season! 🐦

We’ve been seeing lots of baby birds brought into the clinic lately, but many of them are actually healthy fledglings learning how to fly and survive outside the nest.

To help, we’re sharing this helpful guide from the RSPB on what to do if you find a baby bird. In many cases, fledglings are best left near where they were found so their parents can continue caring for them.

🚑 If the bird appears injured, weak, or has been caught by a cat, please contact us or a local wildlife rescue for advice.
