Hairy rabbit ears can be a useful natural dog chew/treat, mainly because:

🦷 Dental chewing: The fur and cartilage give dogs something to gnaw and can provide some mechanical cleaning of the teeth.

🐰 Fibre from the fur: Rabbit fur is largely indigestible, so it passes through the digestive tract and adds bulk to the stool. Some owners use furry treats as part of a natural “gut-cleansing” diet, although evidence for specific health benefits is limited.

🥩 High-protein, relatively lean treat: Rabbit ears are generally low in fat compared with many conventional dog treats.

🧠 Enrichment: Chewing and working through the fur can provide mental stimulation and satisfy natural foraging/chewing behaviours.

🦴 Natural texture: The cartilage and connective tissue provide a tougher chew than many soft treats.
