Minda always has something to say when I visit her and the babies. 😄

Those emerald-green eyes… and then there’s this little silver snow lynx boy, already developing the most beautiful rosettes.

Mum and kittens had made themselves very comfortable in the litter tray beside my bed — apparently the perfectly good beds nearby weren’t quite good enough. 😂

A little look at Toffee and his sister as they grow into their characters.

I have a soft spot for photo no. 5 of Toffee....which one os your favourite 🫣

Toffee is our silver snow mink boy with aqua-blue eyes. His sister is a solid snow lynx with clear blue eyes. Both are full of curiosity, cuddles and the sort of kitten mischief that keeps the nursery entertaining.

Toffee has also been making a few little video appearances on our new website, so do have a wander and see what you find.

A new wild cat species — hiding in plain sight for years.

And its beautiful rosettes were one of the clues that something was different…

Meet Leopardus tilcayo, a newly described small wild cat from Bolivia.

For years it was thought to be another known tiger cat. But differences in its appearance raised questions — and modern genetic research eventually revealed something remarkable: it was distinct.

Stories like this fascinate us.

Small wild cats have always been part of what draws us to the Bengal. For our breed, of course, that story begins with a different little wild cat — the Asian leopard cat, Prionailurus bengalensis.

It is the wild ancestor behind the Bengal breed and the source of much of that unmistakable wild-cat appearance that first captured our imagination.

And perhaps that is what makes this discovery so fascinating.

We know an extraordinary amount about cats — yet nature clearly still has a few secrets left.

A wonderful read from National Geographic.

Meet the latest member of the cat family—proposed name Leopardus tilcayo, a feline smaller than an average housecat, covered in leopard-like spots, and native to Bolivia's Yungas forest ecoregion. What began as a call from a wildlife sanctuary about a "weird cat" led to years of study and the eventual identification of the first new cat species in over a century. Now, scientists hope the methods that led to the discovery could help find more new cat species around the world.

The belly is shown. The paws curl in. The tiny Bengal armadillo appears… 🥹

Toffee and his solid snow lynx sister are becoming rather too good at this — far too sweet for their own good.

Which one would you give the first gentle tummy tickle: Toffee or his sister?

Dear Bengalheritage Families and Friends,

We tried to take a sensible photograph to announce our new website...

The kittens had other ideas! 🐾

Apparently, launching a website requires several paws on the keyboard, a thorough inspection of the screen and at least one kitten trying to take full editorial control!

After months of writing, organising photographs and building pages, alongside our work at Cat View Lodge and a few health challenges along the way, progress has sometimes been slower than we had hoped.

However, we are delighted to announce that our new Bengalheritage Kittens website is now LIVE! 🎉

https://bengalheritagekittens.co.uk

This will be our official online point of reference moving forward.

Now it’s your turn to inspect it, just in case our little helpers have missed anything! 👀🐾

If you spot something that looks wrong or appears to be missing, please take a screenshot and pop it in the comments below. Your thoughts and suggestions are very welcome too!

The website is live, but it will continue to grow. New kitten updates, photographs, videos, articles, blogs and Bengal resources will be coming soon, so keep watching!

Please tell us what you think. The kittens have already given it their paw of approval, but naturally, they are also taking full credit!
