The end of an article trail for Lottie was a puzzle for her to solve.

Although the trail itself was aged the end scent pool wasn't being 'fed' with fresh scent as the TL wasn't in position but had left an item of clothing in the undergrowth.

The trail ended in the area but not strictly a car pick up due to the scent article being there.

Lottie's behaviour would have been completely different had it been a car pick up exercise.

Today Erko had his very first go at trailing.

A 13 month GSD weighing in at 42kg but very much a gentle giant who loved the game from the off.

I'm not sure how much his handler believed me when I told her he would work out to slow down himself! πŸ˜‚

Can't wait to see his progress over the coming months.

This session was a little different as there were only two handlers.
Trail #1 wasn't a true DB as the handlers had an idea where the trail went. However, they had to rely on what their dog was telling them. There was definitely no trainer input as I was on vehicle duty.

Trail #2 was an article find at the end of a longer trail.

A problem well solved by Noosa.

The trail had been on a dirt track then not only was there a surface change but an entrance in from the road (with vehicles going up and down) as well as other exit options.

We all got a little damp on this session but spirits were high and the dogs were all on top form. I got to work both girls too so a bonus for me.

On Paddy's last session we started progressing him to fully blind starts.

Here he is on his 7th session having just been shown the food at the vehicle.

There are lots of sheep in this area so it was also the first time he had been worked on a line.

Self discovery has given him a fantastic start towards solid foundations. The key now will be to not progress him too quickly.

Places available on Friday's session. July sessions also have places available. 🐾🐾

Great work from the teams on this session where we worked on aged, distance, contamination, progression to fully blind starts and appreciating how important the right reward is. 🐾🐾
