This World Mental Health Day, we're thinking about the wellbeing of every animal in our care. ๐
When River returned to NAWT Bedfordshire, the stress of kennel life was taking a toll on him in a way we couldn't fully understand. Despite extensive veterinary tests, extra food and enrichment, he continued to lose weight. It wasn't until he spent time in a foster home that we discovered just how much his environment was affecting him.
Thankfully, River's story had a happy ending. ๐พ But his journey is a powerful reminder that an animal doesn't always have to look stressed for their emotional wellbeing to be suffering.
In our latest blog, we share River's journey, alongside the stories of three NAWT Cornwall volunteers who have found friendship, purpose and a sense of belonging through spending time with the animals in our care.
Because rescue isn't just about food, shelter and finding loving homes. It's about understanding each animal as an individual, recognising their needs and helping them feel safe, happy and loved. ๐
