🐱Timmy was diagnosed with diabetes in 2025 after he experienced some weight loss and increased thirst and urination. Since Timmy wasn’t experiencing any major negative events associated with diabetes his owner, one of our night nurses Kate opted to start him on Senvelgo an oral medication given once a day to help Timmy excrete excess glucose in his urine.

Although this treatment allows us to avoid having to inject cats twice daily it is only suitable in certain cases. Close monitoring for ketones and hypoglycaemia is needed. Timmy is such a dude and he is doing really well on Senvelgo and living his best life 💕

🐾 New lumps or firm areas

🐾 Swelling

🐾 Changes in the skin

🐾 Discharge or unusual changes around the ni***es

🐾 Signs of discomfort

If you notice anything new or unusual, book an appointment with us so your pet can be properly assessed.

As pets get older, some health problems can develop quietly, without obvious signs at first. 🐾

Our Senior Pet Check-Up is designed to look for early signs of common age-related conditions, including osteoarthritis, dental disease, kidney and liver problems, diabetes and cognitive changes.

Spotting changes earlier can help us understand what your pet needs and, where appropriate, start treatment or management sooner to support their comfort and quality of life.

Is your pet entering their senior years? Speak to our team to find out whether a Senior Pet Check-Up could be right for them. 💙

They’ve spent years making us laugh, keeping us company and becoming an irreplaceable part of the family. 🐾💛

As they get older, their healthcare needs can change too.

Our Senior Pet Check-Up gives us an opportunity to take a closer look at your pet’s health and identify certain problems that may be difficult to spot at home.

From mobility and cognitive changes to dental health, blood and urine testing, lumps and bumps and, for cats, blood pressure, we’re looking at the bigger picture.

Because senior care is about helping to make those extra years as happy and comfortable as possible.

Contact our team to book your pet’s Senior Pet Check-Up, and take advantage of our 10% discount during October.

A heart murmur is an extra sound your vet may hear when listening to your pet’s heart. It does not always mean serious heart disease, but it does mean further assessment may be needed.

Some pets with a heart murmur show no signs at all, while others may develop:

👉 Coughing

👉 Breathing changes or getting out of breath more easily

👉 Reduced exercise tolerance

👉 Tiring more quickly

👉 Weakness or collapse

Your vet may recommend further tests, such as blood pressure checks, chest x-rays, or an ultrasound scan of the heart, to find the cause.

Treatment depends on what is causing the murmur. Some pets may only need monitoring, while others may need medication and ongoing check-ups, or even heart surgery.

If your pet has a heart murmur, try not to panic; many pets can still enjoy a good quality of life with the right care and follow-up, and we’ll be here to support you every step of the way.

Dogs explore the world with their noses and mouths, so it can only take a moment for a fallen conker to become an unexpected snack.

If you see your dog eat or chew a conker, don’t wait for symptoms to appear before asking for advice. Conkers are toxic because they contain aesculin and can also become lodged in the digestive system, causing a blockage.

Keep an eye out for signs such as:

⚠️ Vomiting or diarrhoea

⚠️ Drooling

⚠️ Abdominal pain

⚠️ Reduced appetite

⚠️ Restlessness, wobbliness or tremors

Symptoms usually develop within hours, although they can sometimes be delayed.

If you suspect your dog has eaten a conker, contact us promptly, and we’ll advise you on the next steps.

🪾Stick season 🪾

Arthur was out and about playing with a stick when he managed to impale himself.

After emergency treatment Arthur was CT scanned to assess the full extent of the damage and to allow us to see if any foreign material had been left behind. Arthur had significant injuries as the stick had pierced through his soft palate causing a penetrating injury reaching all the way back to the opening of where his skull meets his spinal cord no foreign material was identified. This meant that Arthur needed careful monitoring for neurological deterioration and signs of infection.

We are so happy to hear Arthur is back to his normal self and having plenty of fun playing with his brothers 🎾🐾
