🦴 Spot the difference! 👀🐶

Two dogs, same sit… well, almost!

Look closely and you’ll notice one is sitting nice and square, while the other is shifting their weight over to one side.

It might look like a tiny difference, but changes in posture can be an early sign that a dog’s joints aren’t feeling quite right. 🐾

Keep an eye out for other little clues too:
🐕 Slowing down on walks
🪜 Hesitating on stairs or jumping
🛏️ Taking longer to get up
🪵 Looking stiff after resting
⚖️ Sitting or standing differently

Dogs are very good at getting on with things, so those small changes can be easy to overlook.

If your dog’s movement or posture has changed, it’s worth getting them checked. 🩺

🐱 Scruff is ready for her next chapter! 🏡✨

This lovely girl is under the care of Wonky Pets Rescue, who have gone above and beyond to make sure she’s had everything she needed after developing cystitis. 🐾

Scruff has had scans, urine tests and sequential urine samples to get to the bottom of her symptoms, with all her medication carefully given by one of Wonky Pets’ dedicated fosterers. 🩺💊

It’s brilliant to see what a difference dedicated rescue care can make. Thanks to the fantastic team at Wonky Pets and her wonderful fosterer, Scruff is now feeling much better and ready to head off to the forever home that’s waiting for her. 🥰

We’re so pleased to have been part of Scruff’s journey! 💜

👃 Time to put those noses to work!

We’re launching NEW beginner scentwork classes at Vets at Bretby! 🐾

Scentwork is a brilliant way to exercise your dog’s brain without putting lots of strain on their body. It can be great for post-op dogs, older dogs and those who need low-impact exercise — and it’s also a lovely, calming activity for dogs who are a little on the… enthusiastic side! 😂🧠

Led by a qualified instructor, the 6-week course is perfect for beginners.

📅 Sundays from 27th September
⏰ 6.30–7.30pm
🚫 No class 4th October
💷 £80 for 6 sessions

Spaces are limited, so get your dog’s detective nose ready! 🔎🐕

🐶 Maisie came in for her worming treatment and was far too cute to leave without a photo! 🥰

Worming isn’t a one-size-fits-all job. 🪱 Your pet’s worming protocol can depend on their lifestyle, diet, whether they hunt or eat raw food, and even your own preferences as an owner.

That’s why we tailor parasite protection to each pet rather than automatically giving the same treatment to everyone. 🐾

🦷 Penny’s dental revealed more than we could see from the outside. 👀

Her dental X-rays showed significant tooth destruction, bone loss and severe periodontal disease. 🩻 Periodontal disease can develop gradually below the gumline, where it isn’t always obvious from the outside. By the time there are visible signs, some of the damage can already be quite advanced. 😬

Every pet’s mouth is different, and some are simply more prone to dental disease than others. Regular dental checks 🪥 help us spot problems that may not be visible at home.

Penny received the treatment she needed 💜 and we were delighted to sign her off with her owners feeling reassured about her dental health. 🐾

And we think their lovely review says the rest… 🥰

A big well done to Penny for being such a good girl! 🐶✨

🐶 Luna has a very special smile! 🥰

Luna was born with a cleft lip, which happens when the tissues forming the lip don’t fully join together before birth. 🐾

Cleft surgery is highly skilled and can sometimes be really important for puppies who are struggling to eat, having breathing difficulties, or where the cleft extends further back into the mouth. 🩺

We can perform some types of cleft surgery at Vets at Bretby, but Luna’s cleft is right at the front of her lip, where there is less blood supply. She’s also grown into a healthy puppy with no problems eating or breathing, so we don’t feel surgery with our team is the right option for her.

Her owners have decided to have Luna assessed by a soft tissue specialist, and we’re very happy to support them with this. 💜 It means they can get expert advice on whether anything further is needed, while knowing that Luna is already doing so well. 🐾

For now, she’s happy, healthy and we think her little smile is pretty adorable! 🥰

🌾 Bailey’s ear was hiding an unwanted passenger!

Bailey came to see us with a grass seed lodged deep in his ear, and it proved particularly challenging to remove. 😳

He was admitted straight away for treatment so we could safely remove it before it had the chance to pe*****te the eardrum and cause more serious problems.

Thankfully, after some careful work, we got the pesky grass seed out! 🐶🌾

Grass seeds can travel surprisingly far once they get into a pet’s ear, nose or paws, so if you notice head shaking, ear scratching or discomfort after a walk, it’s worth getting them checked. 💜
