Lessons from the Lead – Part 2
Stop Comparing Your Chapter Two to Someone Else’s Chapter Twenty

Comparison is one of the quickest ways to steal the enjoyment from dog training and life.

Social media doesn’t help.

We see the perfect recall, flawless heelwork, impressive indication, competition win or new qualification.

What we rarely see are the failed sessions, mistakes, setbacks, muddy trousers or the tennis ball accidentally launched onto the garage roof!

Social media is a highlight reel, not the whole story.

Every dog has its own timeline.

Some learn quickly. Others need more time. Some are naturally confident; others need patience and experience.

Neither is wrong.

Your dog doesn’t know another Labrador learnt to track earlier. It doesn’t care that somebody else’s Spaniel found its first hide two weeks sooner.

Dogs don’t carry calendars. Humans do.

And progress isn’t a race.

Success might mean winning a championship for one handler.

For another, it might simply mean walking through the park without their reactive dog barking.

Both matter.

The nervous dog that confidently walks through a doorway.

The reactive dog that sees another dog and chooses not to react.

The puppy that waits before jumping out of the car.

These quiet victories might never go viral, but they’re often the victories that matter most.

So stop looking over the fence.

Learn from others.
Be inspired by them.
Celebrate their success.

Then get back to your own dog.

Measure your progress against where you started, not where somebody else appears to be.

Small improvements, repeated consistently, create extraordinary results.

Perhaps instead of comparing your Chapter Two with somebody else’s Chapter Twenty…

Concentrate on writing a better Chapter Three.

Because the only dog you’re responsible for improving today is the one at the end of your lead.

Your dog doesn’t care whether you’re the best trainer in the country.

It only cares that you’re the best trainer for them. 🐾

Wednesday 19th, 6-7pm BOOKED
Wednesday 19th, 7-8pm BOOKED

Hire fees are as follows:
£10 for 1 dog per hour
£16 for 2-3 dogs per hour
£18 for 4-6 dogs per hour

Other times maybe available on request so please check if needed.

💚 Thank You, Capable Canines 💚

As part of our Hednesford Summer Festival Supporters series, we would like to say a huge thank you to Capable Canines, who are returning once again to bring the ever-popular Scrufts Dog Show to this year's Hednesford Summer Festival.

Not only will they be running our fun dog show categories, but they will also be treating visitors to some pawtastic agility displays throughout the day.

Their agility demonstrations were a huge hit with the crowds last year, showcasing the incredible bond between handler and dog while leaving audiences amazed by the speed, skill and talent on display. We can't wait to see what exciting tricks and performances they have in store for us this year!

Thank you to the whole Capable Canines team for your continued support and for helping to make Hednesford Summer Festival a fantastic day for our four-legged friends and their owners alike. 🐾💚
