🚨🐰 URGENT WARNING FOR RABBIT OWNERS 🐰🚨

We have had a suspected case of Rabbit Haemorrhagic Disease (RHD), a highly contagious and almost always fatal disease that can kill a rabbit very quickly.

⚠️ The most frightening thing about RHD is that rabbits can become infected without direct contact with another rabbit. The virus can be carried by insects, shoes, clothing, hands, bedding, food, hay and equipment - and it can survive in the environment for weeks.
Once clinical signs appear, rabbits can deteriorate rapidly and death may occur within just 12–36 hours. There is no specific treatment for RHD.

💉 VACCINATION IS CRITICAL.
If your rabbit is not vaccinated, or is overdue for vaccination, please contact us as soon as possible.

🐰 Itchy Pet Awareness Month 🐹

Did you know that rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, rats and other small furries can suffer from itchy skin too?

Excessive scratching, hair loss, flaky skin or scabs could be signs of mites, fleas, fungal infections, allergies or other health concerns. These problems can quickly become uncomfortable if left untreated.

Keep an eye out for:
🐾 Frequent scratching or grooming
🐾 Bald patches or thinning fur
🐾 Flaky or crusty skin
🐾 Scabs or sores
🐾 Changes in behaviour or appetite

Regular health checks, clean housing and prompt veterinary advice can help keep your small companions happy and comfortable.

If you've noticed your rabbit or small furry friend scratching more than usual, book them in for a check-up. Early treatment can make all the difference. 💚

Are your pet's ears trying to tell you something?👂

August is Itchy Pet Awareness Month, making it the perfect time to pay attention to one of the most common signs of skin irritation, itchy ears.

If your dog or cat is:
🐾 Shaking their head frequently
🐾 Scratching at their ears
🐾 Rubbing their head along the floor or furniture
🐾 Developing red, sore or smelly ears
…it could be more than just a minor itch.

Ear problems can be caused by allergies, ear mites, bacterial or yeast infections, grass seeds or other underlying conditions. Left untreated, they can become painful and may lead to more serious infection and pain.

What should you do?
✔️ Check your pet's ears regularly for redness, discharge or an unusual smell.
✔️ Avoid using cotton buds or home remedies unless advised by your vet.
✔️ If your pet is showing signs of discomfort, book an appointment so we can identify the cause and recommend the most appropriate treatment.
