Blue and the bee! 🐝

Yesterday afternoon Blue’s owner noticed he wasn’t quite himself. After being seen by our team, we discovered the culprit… a bee sting under his tongue!

A good reminder to trust your instincts if your pet isn’t quite right. Well done to Blue’s owners for getting him checked so promptly! 💙🐾

As Pain Month comes to an end, we’re finishing with an important reminder: preventing pain is just as important as treating it. 🐾❤️

Regular health checks, keeping pets at a healthy weight, looking after their teeth, staying up to date with preventative care and spotting changes in behaviour early can all help us identify potential problems before they become painful.

Whether it’s helping an older pet stay comfortable, managing joint health or simply noticing that your pet isn’t quite themselves, early intervention can make a real difference.

Because our goal isn’t just to treat pain, it’s to help prevent it wherever we can, so your pets can enjoy happier and healthier lives. 🐶🐱💗

Autumn is on its way! 🍂

Are we all enjoying those slightly cooler temperatures? After the heat of summer, we’re certainly welcoming a little more freshness in the air!

As the seasons change, there are a few simple things to keep in mind for our furry friends:

🍁 Watch those darker evenings: As the nights draw in, be a little extra careful on walks and around roads. Reflective collars, leads or coats can help keep everyone visible.

🍁 Be mindful of what’s outside: Autumn brings lots of leaves, conkers and other seasonal goodies that can be tempting for curious pets. A quick check of what they’re picking up on walks can go a long way.

🍁 Keep an eye on joints: Cooler, damper weather can sometimes make stiff joints a little more noticeable, especially in older pets. If you notice them seeming less comfortable, it’s worth having a chat!

Is my small pet in pain? 🐰🐹🐭

Small pets are very good at hiding pain, so the signs can be subtle.
Keep an eye out for:
🥕 Eating less or not eating
💩 Fewer, runny or no droppings
🐾 Hunched or unusual posture
🏠 Hiding more than normal
😬 Teeth grinding or unusual noises for your pet
🤕 Limping or reluctance to move
❤️ Being quieter or more withdrawn than usual
🧼 Changes in grooming
🫁 Fast or difficult breathing

⚠️ Small pets can deteriorate much more quickly than larger pets, so it's important not to wait and see if things improve.

If you notice a change in your small pet's behaviour, appetite or normal routine, please contact your vet promptly. If they have stopped eating, are struggling to breathe, are extremely lethargic or appear to be in severe pain, seek veterinary advice urgently.
