Jessie started training walks yesterday as she pulls on the lead and barks at other dogs. This lovely girl is a rescue and is an absolute sweetheart 🥰

She did really well in his first session and we are looking forward to seeing how she progresses. Our diary is currently full with training walks, but please get in touch if you would like to go on our waiting list 😁

Some more of our recent graduates, from Monday and Friday classes. The oldest dog in this group is 11 years old, proving it's never too late to do training with your dog, and classes can be fun for both dog and human 😀

Today Mocha and Ruby tried out a new field. They approve of Pipehill dog field, and suggest that you try it with your doggies too 😁

Our next course starts this coming Sunday and is full, however you can either book for our November course or join us for our Friday evening course in Aldridge, starting 18th September.

Bruno had his 2nd training walk yesterday. His family called us in to help as he has been dragging them around on walks and reacting (likely out of frustration) when he sees other dogs. He was not engaging with his owners at all on walks and not interested in food or toy rewards either.

Last week was our first session and Bruno's owners were given some homework to do.

What a marked difference this week! Bruno was able to wait whilst the gate was opened without rushing through, could engage with the person holding the lead and follow for short distances and was happily taking food rewards.

There is still a long way to go as this will be a gradual teaching process where Bruno is learning a new skill, but we are very proud of how well he did. Well done Bruno! 🐕

🐶🐶 We're rather busy with our puppy 121's at the moment.

🥰 This is the gorgeous Ted who's not a very brave boy so we've been looking at ways to support him in the home and garden to help him build confidence with novelty including noises and moving objects which are currently problematic.

🧛‍♂️ He's also a little bit bitey which is completely normal for puppies but frustrating for owners so we've looked at the reasons and ways of managing it and meeting his needs so he's less likely to be a velociraptor

💦🌧 This event has had to be cancelled due to the weather and the ongoing rain forecast for all of today. We don't want everyone and their dog to get wet

🐶 Tonight we had a call from a breeder which is quite unusual.

🐕 The breeder wanted some advice about one of the puppies growling when picked up. Again unusual but nevertheless welcome.

❌️ There's no shame reaching out to professionals when you're not sure about something. In fact, it's sensible, realistic and ethical. We often collaborate with other professionals because we're happy to hold our hands up and seek advice from others. We might have some knowledge about a lot of dog related subjects but understand our limits. Only this week we've had conversations with a vet behaviourist and a veterinary physiotherapist.

😍 If we truly care and want to prioritise your dogs welfare then we'll seek out others who can support to ensure we don't overlook or bypass something that another professional specialises in.

😶‍🌫️ As behaviour is the result of an emotion then surely we should be exploring all avenues before deciding how best to support your dog.
