🐾 Welcome to our brand-new, third consultation room 🐾

No scary consult table — just a comfy sofa with a lovely view. 🛋️

🐶 There’s plenty of floor space too, so we can get down to your pet’s level and let them take their time exploring and making themselves at home. 🐱

We’re so proud to be able to invest in our practice and create spaces like this for our patients — and that’s only possible because of the continued support of our wonderful clients.

Thank you for trusting us with your pets and giving us the opportunity to make the practice even better for them. 🐾

Because vet visits should feel as comfortable and stress-free as possible 🩵

🪽It’s okay to let them go on a good day 🪽

Our pets don’t understand longevity;
They don’t wake up hoping for three more months.
They don’t know what next year means.
They only know how today feels.

Is my body comfortable?
Can I breathe easily?
Does food still taste good?
Can I rest without hurting?

That’s their whole world.

When disease progresses, it’s rarely one dramatic moment. Often it is a slow trade; fewer good days, more hard ones.

And sometimes the kindest gift and most loving thing we can do is choose a good day. And exchange their pain for ours.

A day when they’re still themselves.
A day where they can eat something a little special.
A day where they fall asleep peacefully.

You didn’t shorten their life. They don’t know you made the decision about time.

They just know they were safe. And comfortable. And with you

It may be one of the hardest decisions you make but we are here to share the pain and have that conversation with you.

Let them go on a good day.

❤️‍🩹 Blaze’s Success Story 🩵

When Blaze’s family suddenly noticed a very swollen abdomen, they got him checked out concerned that he was bloating or even constipated.

Vet Jess immediately performed an ultrasound and unfortunately found an abdomen full of fluid and a large mass.

Blaze’s parents were faced with a very difficult decision - go ahead with surgery and attempt to remove the mass or say goodbye so that he could be at peace.

His Mum knew he was a tough and strong boy, his Dad wanted to give him every chance of living on and his human brother just wanted his best mate back. So, the decision was made and surgery was performed.

A whopping 2.2kg mass growing from one of his kidneys was found. Delicate surgery was needed to remove the mass. The kidney was also affected and so removed.

Dogs are able to live normal lives with just one kidney as long as the function of that remaining kidney is good - as was the case with Blaze.

Here he is 3 days post “basketball” mass removal - bright and as happy as a button again.

We’re incredibly proud to offer Blaze’s family the chance to give him more years to enjoy his beautiful life. We’re also grateful that they believed in us and their boy.

We've known Blaze since he was just a puppy, and as one of our very first clients, he's been part of the Rose Valley Vets family ever since. Six years later, it's a privilege to have watched him grow and to continue caring for him.

Moments like these are exactly why we do what we do. Caring for pets like Blaze—and the people who love them—is at the heart of everything we are.

🐥 An Orthopaedic With A Difference 🐥

When Star, the light Sussex chicken, was found sitting strangely in the coop and reluctant to walk, it was clear something was not right at all.

An x-ray revealed a nasty break to her femur (thigh bone).

Chickens bones have a greater healing capacity and repair much quicker than dogs or cats. It can take a chicken only 3 weeks to be walking again, compared to 8-12 weeks with a dog!

Star’s femur was put back together with a pin in the middle of the bone and an external fixator made of more pins and putty. A difficult anaesthetic and a very fiddly surgery later, Star woke up and laid an egg as a thank you!

Gradually, week by week each part of the fixator was removed and eventually the internal pin. 4 weeks later, she was back with her flock on her two legs!

🏖️🤕Ziggy’s Summer Ordeal❤️‍🩹

When Ziggy’s parents left him to go on their summer holiday, little did they know that just before boarding their plane, Ziggy would make the ultimate protest and get himself into a heap of trouble!

A run-in with a car on a busy road meant a heartbreaking call to Ziggy’s parents to inform them that their boy had been in an accident. They stayed on the phone, getting results of the tests we performed as they happened.

Luckily for 11yr old Ziggy, a fractured leg was his most serious injury.

Holiday cancelled, his people came to be by his side and made sure he got all the treatment and love he needed.

We performed surgery on his leg the next day - this involved a plate and quite a few screws to get the pieces back together again!

Surgery was sucessful and Ziggy has made an outstanding recovery. 10 days on and he is trying to run already!

Such a beautiful boy, loved so deeply 🩵

We’ve set up a temporary cool down area for those doggos (or brave cats!) that are getting a little too hot on their visit to us. Feel free to let them have a paddle and a hose down!

🐱 You and your cat could become part of something truly amazing and life saving 🐱

Pet Blood Bank UK have revealed that, for the first time, a cat blood bank will exist!

This is a huge advancement for vets and life-changing for cat owners and cats throughout the UK. Previously, if a cat needed a blood transfusion, vets would call upon their cat clients to find a suitable donor in that very moment. We’ve been very lucky to have a wonderful client with Maine Coons’ that has helped in a time of need, and of course some of our very own!

But now, with access to a blood bank a cat in need could receive the blood they need within an hour.

If you would like your kitty to become part of this heroic system, now is the time! If they are:-
• Fit and healthy
• Between 1 and 8 years old
• 4.5kg or over
• Calm, friendly and happy to be handled by strangers

Register them as a potential donor via the Pet Blood Blank website: www.petbloodbankuk.org/pet-owners/cat-blood-donation.

🎉 Congratulations to Jess! 🎉

We’re delighted to share that our colleague Jess has successfully completed her VetGDP (Veterinary Graduate Development Programme). This marks an important milestone in the early stages of a veterinary career and means Jess is no longer officially considered a “new graduate”.

Jess has worked incredibly hard over the past year, developing her skills, confidence and clinical knowledge, and we’re very proud to have supported her through this journey.

Please join us in congratulating Jess on this fantastic achievement – we’re excited to see all that she will continue to accomplish as part of our team! 🐾
