🐾 What a Wonderful Two nights with Honey, Daisy, Bella, Sweetpea, Pepper and Peach! 🥹💛
My two night house sitting booking with this incredible crew has come to an end — and what a truly special experience it has been from start to finish! 🌟
The dogs 🐾
Honey and Bella were absolutely wonderful throughout — demanding attention, enjoying cuddles and making me feel so welcome from the very first moment. Two gorgeous senior ladies who know exactly what they want and aren't shy about asking for it! 😄💛
And then there is the wonderful Daisy — and her story deserves a special mention. 🥹
Daisy's owners had prepared me well — letting me know at our meet and greet that Daisy builds relationships entirely on her own terms and in her own time. On the first night she ran from me, hid and even feeding her was a real challenge. In the garden she kept as far away as she possibly could. 🌿
But with patience, consistency and absolutely no pressure — something beautiful happened. Treats thrown from a distance became treats taken by hand. Running away became sitting on the sofa together. And by the second night Daisy chose to sleep in her crate near me — a small but hugely significant step. 🥹💛
I genuinely believe that one or two more days and Daisy would be even more comfortable — and that slow burn of trust building is one of the most rewarding things I experience in this work. 🙏
The birds 🦜
Spending quality time with the gorgeous Sweetpea, Pepper and Peach has been an absolute joy and a real education! Learning and following their cleaning schedule and having them out of their cages regularly has been really fun — and after a lovely conversation with the owners my wife Ellie came to visit too. As a huge bird lover she was absolutely in her element and the birds clearly loved her company! 🌈😄💛
A fine example of bespoke care 🌿
This booking is a perfect example of just how tailored and bespoke Ruby's Caring Paws is. From respecting Daisy's need to build trust at her own pace, to learning the birds' cleaning routines, to welcoming Ellie's visit after a conversation with the owners — every single decision throughout this booking was made entirely around what was right for these pets and their wonderful family.
No fixed approach, no rigid routine — just genuine, flexible and heartfelt care built entirely around the needs of the animals and the people who love them.

What I am loving more and more about my house sitting bookings is witnessing how pets gradually become comfortable and trusting during a stay. That journey — however long it takes — is always such a privilege to be part of.
The owners of these beautiful pets have been incredibly welcoming throughout — encouraging me to treat their home as my own which meant so much and made everything feel so natural and relaxed. 🙏💛
House sittings and drop ins short and longer term are becoming a regular and enjoyable part of my business and resulting in less hours being spent in my agency school job and more time dedicated to Ruby's Caring Paws.
