September is here and we’re heading back into our normal school-term routine! 💛 Here is our regular timetable, plus some important dates for your diary.

Our Pony Day is a full day of ponies, riding, learning and fun! 💛

📌 Please note that Pony Day is a day OFF our normal timetable. There will be no Tiny Tots, private/semi-private lessons or regular Own a Pony sessions on this day.

☀️🐴 ONE LAST HOLIDAY CLUB OF THE SUMMER! 🐴☀️

Before the summer holidays are officially over, we’ve squeezed in one final Holiday Club! 💛

📅 Tuesday 1st September
⏰ 9am–5pm

A full day of pony-filled fun, activities and time at the yard - the perfect way to finish off the summer holidays! 🥰🐎

Our Own a Pony Session will also be running at 10am on the same day, so there’s still the opportunity to come along for your usual Own a Pony experience too. 💛

Holiday Club is suitable for children who are already familiar with and well rehearsed in our Own a Pony Sessions.

✨ Our LAST Holiday Club of the summer before the kids go back to school - who’s joining us?! ✨

When the kids go back to school, the afterschool sessions begin at 4pm

Another enrichment activity for some of the horses and their loaners. A fair few are away on holiday but we had to take advantage of a quiet Sunday and let some of these guys let off some steam.
Roo and Lily joined in with them (2 bays at the front and back of the one group) - that’s right! roo! She’s been missing the action for 4 years until now. While she is more of a staff horse, it’s a dream enough that she’s able to join in at all given her medical history - not that you’d guess it from her exuberant antics. This activity took a lot for Lily to sort out in her head taking her back to her racing routes - yes there is tension, but she loved being involved and she is coming along so well!

💛 Our little Percy gave us quite a fright this morning! 💛

Percy had been brought in early for breakfast, hay and a rest before our toddler session. He’d been tacked up when he lay down in his stable. Percy LOVES a snooze and has done this before, but something just didn’t feel quite right.

When he came outside, he went down on the concrete and tried to roll, and shortly afterwards went down again in the ménage, becoming stiff and uncomfortable.

That’s when we knew this wasn’t normal Percy, and called the emergency vet immediately.

Within around 15 minutes, Eden from Hannah Thomas Veterinary Services was with us. ❤️

Thankfully, it appears to have been gas colic. After Buscopan, sedation, tubing and treatment — followed by several worrying hours of watching and waiting — Percy is now doing well and has started having small feeds again. 🙏🐴

Having previously survived colic surgery, we were very quick to act.

The vets also mentioned they’ve been seeing a lot of colic recently, with the heat, ground conditions and this year’s hay among the possible factors. It’s a good reminder of how important it is to keep observing our horses and noticing even the smallest changes in their normal behaviour.

Welfare always comes before the timetable and before money.

Our staff noticed that something wasn’t quite right and acted on it rather than dismissing it because sessions were waiting. Ponies were swapped, sessions adapted, and our customers were absolutely brilliant while we dealt with Percy. ❤️

A huge thank you to everyone for your patience and understanding, and especially to Eden and Thomas Veterinary Services for being there when Percy needed you again ❤️

Percy is currently comfortable, eating his little feeds and being watched like a hawk! 👀💛

At Harmony, we work at the rider and horse’s pace, together as a unit. ❤️

Simone and Lisa are both incredible supporters of Harmony Stables. They both started with us on our adults course before becoming absolutely invaluable volunteers, and have since gone on to take on their own project horses, who are both on training liveries with us.

The other week, they had their very first lessons on their own horses - Lisa riding Bea, who she shares with Simone, and Simone riding Junie. 🥰

We worked on exercises that we have previously introduced from the ground, focusing on manoeuvring, communication and aid control. These are all things that can make such a difference to confidence when out hacking and help both horse and rider to work together as a team.

Thank you both, ladies. You’re incredible, and we’re so proud to see how far you’ve both come. ❤️
