🐶 Think arthritis only affects older dogs? Think again.

Osteoarthritis (OA) can develop in young dogs too – especially after injuries, surgery, or in breeds prone to joint problems. The tricky part? Dogs are incredibly good at hiding pain.

Keep an eye out for subtle signs like:
🐾 Slowing down on walks
🐾 Reluctance to jump into the car or onto the sofa
🐾 Stiffness after resting
🐾 Sitting differently or shifting their weight
🐾 Becoming less playful or more irritable

Many owners put these changes down to ‘just getting older’ or think their dog is ‘having a lazy day’, but they could be early signs of joint pain.

At Stem Cell Vet - The Arthritis Clinic, we see dogs of all ages, from young, active dogs with early joint disease to senior companions needing extra support. The earlier arthritis is recognised, the more options there are to help manage it and keep your dog doing what they love.

If something doesn’t feel quite right, trust your instincts. Early intervention really can make a difference.

🌡️ Too hot for you? It’s too hot for your dog too. 🐾

With temperatures set to soar this week, it’s important to remember that dogs can struggle to cope in the heat far more quickly than we do.

Even when it doesn’t feel unbearable to us, pavements can become dangerously hot, and exercise in warm weather can put dogs at risk of heatstroke - a potentially life-threatening emergency.

☀️ Walk early in the morning or later in the evening
💧 Always carry fresh water
🐾 Check the ground with the back of your hand before heading out
🌳 Stick to shaded areas and take regular breaks
🚨 Watch for excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, vomiting or collapse

If in doubt, skip the walk.

Take a look at our Hot Weather Walking Guide below and help keep your four-legged friends safe, comfortable and cool this week. ❤️

🐾 Salvador’s Stem Cell Day! 🐾

Today was a big day for Salvador as he received his stem cell implant top up as part of his regenerative treatment journey. 💙

Stem cells are used to help support the body’s natural repair processes, targeting inflammation and promoting healthier joint function. By combining advanced regenerative medicine with a personalised treatment plan, we’re aiming to help Salvador move more comfortably and enjoy all the things he loves most.

Every dog is different, and improvement takes time, but today marks an exciting next step for Salvador. We can’t wait to follow Salvador’s progress over the coming weeks and months.

Please join us in wishing this handsome boy the very best for his recovery! 🐶✨

That’s a wrap on BVA Live 2026! 🎉

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by the Stem Cell Vet stand this week. It was fantastic to connect with so many veterinary professionals, share the latest developments in regenerative medicine, and discuss how stem cell therapy is helping improve outcomes for patients across the UK.

We’ve loved the conversations, the questions, and the opportunity to showcase the growing role of regenerative treatments.

Thank you to the organisers, our fellow exhibitors, and everyone who made this year’s event such a success.

Until next time, BVA Live! 👋

🐾 From struggling to sprinting! 🐾

Swipe to see Elsa before treatment, when a painful limp was slowing her down. Fast forward to today, and this incredible 10-year-old is back doing what she loves most - running freely on the beach like a puppy again! 🌊✨

Her owner shared:

“Steve and the fabulous team at Stem Cell Vets have given big Elsa a new lease of life. 10 years old now and acting like a puppy. Thank you.”

Stories like Elsa’s are why we do what we do. Seeing our patients regain their mobility, confidence, and joy is the greatest reward. ❤️
