A new name. A new clinic. Over a decade in the making. 💙

Vetemis Referrals launched online in 2025, and our new clinic opened in 2026—but the journey began many years earlier.

Under Gary’s leadership, laparoscopy and minimally invasive surgery have been developing at Warren House Vets for over a decade. Years of learning, training and investment have brought us to where we are today.

Seeing these pictures side by side makes us proud of how far we’ve come—and excited about what comes next.

Thoracoscopic pericardiectomy — exactly the kind of case our minimally invasive referral service was built to take on.

Working through thoracoscopic ports allows us to access the chest without the morbidity associated with a conventional open thoracotomy, where this approach is appropriate.

For us, though, this is about more than a procedure. Vetemis was created around the idea that advanced endoscopy and minimally invasive surgery deserve a dedicated environment, the right equipment and, most importantly, a team continually developing the skills to use them well.

It has taken years of training, investment and an awful lot of persistence to get here, and seeing increasingly advanced procedures being performed in our new theatres makes all of that feel very worthwhile.

We’re excited to see where we can take minimally invasive veterinary surgery next.

Developing our own protocols in vitro 🔬

One of the challenges of introducing new technology into veterinary minimally invasive surgery is that sometimes there simply isn’t a well-established protocol to follow.

We’ve been working on optimising thulium laser settings for soft-tissue ablation. There is currently no clear consensus on the ideal settings for veterinary patients — and even when taking inspiration from human urology, finding something tangible and directly transferable is difficult.

Our patients range enormously in size, and settings appropriate for one patient — or for a human procedure — cannot simply be assumed to translate to another.

So we’re going back to basics: in-vitro testing, comparing settings and tissue effects, and working towards practical protocols that can be adapted to different patient sizes and applications.

It’s one of the exciting parts of bringing newer minimally invasive technologies into veterinary medicine: sometimes you don’t just learn the protocol — you have to help develop it.

💙 Every new piece of technology tells part of our story.

This was our first Holmium:YAG laser, which helped us introduce laser procedures into our practice and achieve some fantastic results for our patients.

We've now upgraded to a thulium fibre laser, giving us even greater precision and efficiency for procedures such as laser lithotripsy.

Technology never stands still—and neither do we. We're always looking for ways to refine what we do and offer our patients the very best care. ✨

We’re opening our doors and starting with tours for our colleagues (we will host open days for clients as well in December). 🐾

This October, we’re inviting local vets and practice teams to come and have a look around Vetemis Referrals.

These will be small, informal clinic tours — a chance to see our new facilities, meet Gary and the team, have a look at the equipment and discuss the cases and procedures we can support you with.

No big presentation and no hard sell. Just come in, have a drink, look around and ask us anything.

Clinic tour dates:

Wednesday 28 October | 6:00–7:30pm

Places are limited so we can keep the sessions small and useful.

🐱 Laparoscopic spays aren’t just for dogs.

Research suggests cats may benefit particularly well from keyhole surgery, with significantly lower post-operative pain than traditional open spays. In one recent study, only 1 in 9 laparoscopic cats needed rescue pain relief, compared with 7 in 9 after open surgery. (PubMed)

We believe referrals should support the relationship vets have built with their client — not replace it.

Vetemis was created to give veterinary colleagues access to advanced endoscopy, laparoscopy and minimally invasive techniques when a case requires equipment, facilities or experience that may not be available within their own practice.

Dear colleagues, Refer the part of the case you need help with. We’ll communicate our findings and, wherever appropriate, return the patient to you for their ongoing care.
Because being referred to Vetemis shouldn’t mean they stop being your patient.

Total laparoscopic gastropexy 🐾

Gastropexy is securing stomach to the abdominal wall, which prevents gastric volvulus (stomach twist), which can be life-threatening. And now it can be performed without the need for a traditional open abdominal approach.

At Vetemis Referrals, we perform total laparoscopic gastropexy, using minimally invasive techniques to permanently secure the stomach to the abdominal wall and reduce the risk of gastric volvulus.

For dogs at increased risk of GDV, prophylactic gastropexy can be performed as a standalone laparoscopic procedure or alongside other minimally invasive surgery.

🔹 Excellent visualisation and precise placement
🔹 No large abdominal incision
