Good morning, everyone!β
οΈ
I hope you all had a lovely weekend! Itβs only Tuesday and Iβm already questioning what day it isβ¦ Between the six week holidays and celebrating my little boyβs third birthday, my routine has definitely gone out the window!
Last week I had the absolute pleasure of handstripping this beautiful Spinone Italiano. Her owner wanted a light hand strip to freshen her up while still keeping that gorgeous, traditional Spinone lookβ¦ and I think we achieved just that!π€πΎ
One thing I absolutely love about this breed is that theyβre supposed to look a little scruffy! Unlike some breeds that have a very neat, sculpted finish, the Spinoneβs breed standard celebrates a natural, rustic appearance. Their harsh, weather-resistant coat should be handstripped to maintain its texture, while the chest, legs and skirt are left slightly longer to create that soft, shaggy outline theyβre so well known for. Itβs effortlessly beautifulβ¦ and definitely suits their gentle, laid-back personalitiesπ₯Ή
Handstripping isnβt just about appearance either, it helps maintain the correct coat texture and colour while encouraging healthy new coat growth. Itβs one of my favourite techniques to do, and itβs always so satisfying seeing the transformationβ¨
Safe to say she was an absolute superstar from start to finish! Even if she was a little camera shy to begin with.
What do you think of her new look?πΆπΎ
