Ways to eff up a great day eventing Part 64...
Argh well, what an absolute heartbreaker of a day at Rectory Farm Arena ODE and Horse Events Qualifier!! Brilliantly organised event with dressage on grass, SJ on a surface, then 20 XC jumps half in the arena and half on grass. Lots of tighter turns and jumps in a smaller space but makes for a great challenge. Lovely double clear to finish on our dressage for 6th place... Except, oh no I didn't ride straight through the finishing flags and got eliminated 😭😭😭 The anguish and frustration I cannot begin to describe, especially at letting this beautiful horse down 😱😵‍💫😫 But another lesson learnt.
He looked super smart and gets comments whenever we are out and about. He jumped like a dream, and even bravely went over the big scary log with all the flowers about 3m out of the start box. Then got in his stride and flew everything else, made me smile all the way round, which is still a win for me 🦄🥰😎
Thanks to Emily Carenza Gus Langsbury and all at Cotswolds Riding and Dannie for driving and putting studs in! Onwards to Cirencester at the end of the month.

Junior’s big day out at the Pony Club Regional Champs!! So General and I headed down to Rectory Farm Arena where they had been holding a multi day PC champs, but today they also had an open unaffiliated ODE class - dressage on grass, SJ on a surface in arena 2 and a fun XC course set up partly in arena 1 with a loop out onto the grass over some more jumps with extra surface for take off and landings. This was by far the biggest atmosphere we had competed in together - I’ve never seen so many kids, ponies and gazebos 😂 - and the little man took it all in his stride! We did dressage in the fancy boards with flower arrangements and they had all the spooky props out - ducks, chickens, toadstools, etc and multiple more flower arrangements. We finished the day on 34 DR, rolled one pole SJ (jockey nerves!!!) and clear XC with no time - woo hoo - to finish 8th! Given it was optimum time and no watches, with no penalty for going too slow (only too fast), I made a real effort to be steady and take wide lines (much harder than chasing a time I think!!). My little friend also tried to eat the bushes covering the start box rails whilst we were waiting to go - cheeky little monkey! 🙈. Today’s result means we now have a ticket to the Horse Events National Amateur and Young Horse champs at Dauntsey next May/June - wahey! Thanks so much to , Emily Carenza , Gus Langsbury and all at Cotswolds Riding , and Dannie for driving and looking after us again (though you should have seen his face when I said we were off to the pony club 😂). Well done to team mate Amy too - back to old times! Action pics from Top Shots Photography Happy horsey Bank Holiday!! ❤️🏇🏻❤️🏇🏻❤️

So our roving reporter Bravo Beolio aka attended the final qualifier for the 2026 The PRB Horseboxes Cotswold Cup at Offchurch Bury with Princess P aka Paris and what a great result. Well done both
Read on for Clare's entertaining report
Princess P was READY to party! Lands Eventing had done an incredible job with the ground prep for the recent pony club champs which, combined with the rain, made for really excellent going. We got COMPLETELY drenched in the dressage warm up, then had to trot back to the lorry to get changed for SJ and trot back again as we were last to go in our section, and then span around for another flying change for XC. The Sassmeister was not going anyw here near a pole in the SJ so we nailed an easy clear, and she was doing wheelies in the start box for XC, RARING to go! We stormed round a rollercoaster special of a track to finish clear within the time - wahey! Fence 7 was proving particularly influential - a brush fence which on approach looked like you were jumping into the abyss - actually landing on the flat and then dropping into a big gully and coming up the other side and out over a skinny box and then down another hill again! Only 9 finished within the time across 3 sections, 7 were eliminated in our section alone and a bunch had penalties so we were thrilled to finish on the DC and take 8th place. It was so amazing to jump on ground with cut in it and when was the last time we rode in the rain??! So overall we finish in 12th place in the 80 Senior league table across the season, out of 450+ horses … comfortably within the top 50 for another qualification ticket - WOO HOO!! 🎉. Princess P is a superstar and a DC machine!! 💃 Thanks so much to , , and all at Cotswolds Riding , and Dannie for driving and looking after us. Well done too to team mate Curzon-Berners. Action pics from 1st Class Images. Happy horsey Saturday! ❤️🏇🏼❤️🏇🏼❤️

The best boy was in fine fettle at a very soggy Offchurch Bury The dressage is still a work in progress and then he jumped his socks off for me in a very twisty turny showjumping that was causing plenty of issues 🤩We were a bit unlucky on the x-country after we somehow managed to catch-up with the horse in front and then got into a bit of a merry dance with a course walker who clearly thought the coast was clear 🫣 A super fun day with the bonus of softer ground and even some mud 😮 Thanks so much to and Dannie for driving and well done to Clare Beale for your super result

💔 RIP DOLLY PARTON, 1946–2026

There are plenty of reasons for horse lovers to have had a soft spot for Dolly Parton.

Growing up poor in East Tennessee, Dolly wanted a pony more than almost anything.

She once told the wonderful story of an uncle convincing her that she could actually grow her own pony by planting “pony seeds”.

So, as only a hopeful little girl could, she buried horse manure in the ground, watered it carefully... and waited.

No pony ever appeared. But the love of horses never quite left her.

And perhaps one of the best descriptions Dolly ever gave of herself also came straight from the horse world:

“I may look like a show pony, but I’m a workhorse.”

Pony dreams, workhorse spirit and a heart every bit as big as her personality.

Rest in peace, Dolly. ❤️🐴
