🐾 A small change to our Happy Hounds days 🐾

Hi everyone,

We wanted to let you know about a small change we're making to our Happy Hounds daycare days from 1st November.

After a lot of thought, we've decided to make our daycare days slightly shorter. From November, we will leave the hill at around 2:30pm and begin our homeward routes, meaning most dogs will be back home by approximately 4pm latest, depending on where they live and the route that day.

Nothing about the quality of your dog's day with us is changing.

They'll still be collected from home as usual, spend their day with their regular pack, and have all the exercise, freedom, social interaction, mental stimulation and attention that they're used to. We'll then bring them safely home afterwards, just as we do now.

The only difference is that they'll be coming home a little earlier.

After doing this for many years, we've learned that once the dogs have had everything they need from their day, keeping them with us simply because the clock hasn't reached 5pm doesn't necessarily add anything to their experience.

This small change will make quite a big difference behind the scenes at Happy Hounds. It will give us some much-needed time to keep on top of emails and messages, administration, cleaning and maintaining the facilities, as well as creating more opportunities for one-to-one training and behavioural work with dogs who need additional support.

It also means that, rather than increasing our current daycare price, we can continue to offer our Happy Hounds Pack Days at the same price you pay now.

Our collection and home drop-off service will continue as normal, and we'll continue using the access arrangements we already have in place to make sure your dog is safely settled back at home.

We appreciate that everyone's circumstances are different, so if having your dog home a little earlier is likely to cause you a genuine difficulty, please get in touch and have a chat with us.

We're incredibly grateful for the trust you place in us. Many of your dogs have been part of the Happy Hounds family for years, and providing them with the care, adventures and pack life they love will always be at the heart of what we do.

Thank you for continuing to support us and Happy Hounds. ❤️🐾

🐾We have emailed everyone individually but also posting on socials so everyone is aware of this change🐾

TIMBA 🐾🍐🥕

Timba has been part of our pack since he was a tiny wee pup, back when he was approximately 70% puppy-dog eyes and 30% ears. 🥹😂

Honestly, he was RIDICULOUSLY cute.

He started his career in Puppy Club before graduating to spending some time with the Rottweilers. Our lovely Lola has always been brilliant with the overly affectionate babies, which was ideal because Timba’s entire approach to making friends was basically:

"HELLO. I AM JUST A SMALL BOY. PLEASE DON'T KILL ME. ALSO CAN I LICK INSIDE YOUR MOUTH?" 😭🤣

There was a lot of face licking.

A LOT.

Usually followed by Timba dramatically throwing himself onto his back like a Victorian woman who'd just received terrible news.

"I SURRENDER!!! I AM BUT A BABY!!!" 😂

Thankfully, Lola was very patient with her slightly unhinged little apprentice and taught him the ways of the dog.

It wasn't long before Timba was ready for the hill and joined the big pack. 💪🐾

He's always been a very clever boy, and with his family putting loads of work into continuing his training, his doggy manners soon became absolutely spot on.

So now we have Adult Timba™.

Still ridiculously friendly.

Still wants to be everyone's pal.

Still has those massive puppy-dog eyes.

But now...

HE HAS ETIQUETTE. 👌🤣

Timba absolutely adores his friends, particularly Baxter and Jack, and LOVES a good chase.

There is, however, an entry requirement for the Timba Friendship Programme:

YOU MUST BE ATHLETIC. 🏃💨

No point turning up with good intentions and a dodgy hamstring. Timba has places to be. 😂

But perhaps the most ridiculous thing about this boy is his obsession with fruit and vegetables.

And yes...

I appreciate the breaking news here:

LABRADOR LIKES FOOD. 🚨🤣

But Timba isn't simply food motivated.

Oh no.

TIMBA FORAGES.

This dog will actively go looking for berries like a tiny Bear Grylls who's been abandoned in the Scottish wilderness with nothing but his instincts and an empty stomach. 🫐😂

And his family know exactly what they've created, because whenever Timba comes to stay with us for his holidays, he arrives with his own ARRAY OF FRUIT AND VEG. 🤣🤣

Not just his food.

Not just his bed.

Not just the usual doggy essentials.

No.

TIMBA ARRIVES WITH PRODUCE. 🥕🍐🍎😂

Other dogs come for their holidays with a favourite toy and a blanket.

Timba turns up looking like he's just done a small shop at the greengrocer's.

"Yes, hello. Timba checking in. Here's my luggage... and this bag contains my refreshments." 🤣

Honestly, I'm surprised he doesn't arrive with a little cool box and a handwritten meal plan.

10am - carrot.
2pm - seasonal fruit.
4pm - light berry forage.
Evening - see what falls out of a tree. 😂

And speaking of trees...

Every morning when I pick him up, he's eyeing up his mum's pear tree.

Especially now the pears are falling.

I open the van door...

Timba looks at me.

Looks at the van.

Looks at the pear tree.

🍐👀

You can practically see the calculations happening.

"I've got time."

I'm fairly certain one morning I'm going to arrive and find him underneath it wearing a balaclava with six pears stuffed down his harness. 🤣

And then we have his beloved carrots. 🥕

Give Timba a carrot and you've never seen happiness like it.

He doesn't simply eat a carrot.

He ANNIHILATES it.

CRONCH. CRONCH. CRONCH.

At a volume normally associated with industrial machinery. 😂

And the entire time he's sitting there with the happiest little face, looking like he's just been handed a Michelin-starred meal rather than a vegetable from Tesco.

Honestly, Timba is just the cutest wee soul. ❤️

He's grown from that tiny, face-licking, belly-flopping baby into the loveliest, cleverest, friendliest boy...
..who loves his pals, has impeccable manners, enjoys high-speed pursuits, packs his own five-a-day for his holidays, and apparently believes the local fruit supply belongs to him. 😂

And somehow, after all this time, he STILL has those huge, mesmerising puppy-dog eyes. 🥹

The sort of eyes that say:

"I've never done anything wrong in my entire life."

While he's standing there...

with a stolen pear in his mouth. 🍐🤣❤️

Wee Winnie Murray ♥️

Where do we even begin with this little pocket rocket? 😂

Winnie has been part of our pack since she was just a tiny wee pup, starting off in Puppy Club before graduating to the big pack on the hill - although “big” is perhaps a generous description where Winnie is concerned 🤣🐾

Tiny but mighty, this wee Cockapoo girl absolutely LOVES life and everything in it! She doesn’t let those tiny legs hold her back - mainly because we’re not convinced they’re actually legs. We’re fairly certain they’re springs. 😂 She bounces through the heather like a wee pogo stick with absolutely no regard for gravity, personal space or where she might land!

Winnie is such an affectionate, kind wee soul and everybody’s pal. She’ll happily bounce over to say hello, dish out the cuddles… and potentially have a wee nibble at your sleeve while she’s there. 🤣 Consider it a Winnie kiss with added teeth!

And then there’s the wardrobe…

Some dogs have a different coat for every season. Winnie has a different coat for every occasion, weather condition and possible social engagement. 😂 Jackets, jumpers, colours, styles - and naturally, collars to match. We’re fairly sure this wee girl has a bigger wardrobe than most of us. 💅🏼✨

A proper wee fashionista who would NEVER be caught on the hill in last season’s colours. The heather is basically her catwalk. 😂

Everybody’s pal, full of character and with the cutest wee face that lets her get away with absolutely everything. 🥹♥️

And, of course, the absolute apple of her mum’s eye - her complete pride and joy. 🍎♥️

Our tiny but mighty, spring-loaded, sleeve-nibbling, ridiculously well-dressed wee Winnie Murray. 🐾♥️

Small legs. BIG personality. Even bigger wardrobe. 😂♥️

Winnie - we adore you, Our little Diva ♥️
