I have listed status with the Kennel Club to run training courses under The Good Citizen Dog Scheme at Puppy, Bronze, Silver and Gold level. My name is Andy Gussey and I have over thirty years of experience in dog training. I was a Police dog handler for 11 years training and working German Shepherd dogs and specialist search Spaniels. Since 2001 I have helped other people train their dogs; I have

listed status with the Kennel Club to run classes covering the Good Citizen Dog Scheme.I conduct classes for puppies, beginners and advanced dog handlers and I can schedule one to one sessions to help dog owners train and handle their dogs. I have worked with a wide variety of different breeds from Great Danes to Border Terriers and everything in between with a variety of training and behavioural needs. As well as my Police German Shepherd dogs I have always owned English Springer Spaniels, I love their energy and character. I was brought up surrounded by working gun dogs becoming involved in their training as soon as I was old enough and later working them myself. I now find myself to be the proud owner of a miniature Dachshund, full of character. I have also been involved in training a number of therapy, wellbeing and assistance dogs for a variety of purposes.

Single puppy class - Saturday 25th July.
I am running a single puppy class at 1pm on Saturday 25th July.
I should have added to my previous post that this class is suitable for dogs up to 6 months
We are doing this before we go on our summer break.
One hour duration, £25 per dog.
We will look at lead walking, sit, down, stay, how to start training these and how to progress them, recall and a bit of theory to go with those activities.

New 5 week blocks of classes start on the weekend of 20th-21st June.
We will have 12 hours of classes running over each weekend.
I don’t have any puppy spaces available now but I do have space for an adult dog (over 6 months) in a 2pm Sunday class (£105 for the block) and a space in a new scent class at 2pm on Saturdays. (£110 for the block)

I have a couple of spaces available in a new puppy class (Up to 6 months) starting on Sunday 10th May. Class time is 9am.

Here are the details of my classes.
My venue is on Woollard Lane on the outskirts of Keynsham.
Classes are 45 minutes and in blocks of 5 weeks, £105 for the block with the option to do a follow on block. I have use of a large enclosed grass paddock, sand covered horse riding arena and a large barn.
There is plenty of room for parking and for people to watch
I aim to have between 5 and 8 dogs in each class.
I have an awards scheme similar to the Kennel Club Good Dog Award Scheme and a few extra bits.
Essentially this means we do, heeling on and off lead, sit, down, stand, recall including around other dogs, socialisation with people, dogs, noise and surfaces. We also do some fun age appropriate agility.
Age wise your dog just needs to have completed / be up to date on its vaccinations to attend.
My classes run all day Saturday and Sunday but 9am Sunday is the only available time for new puppies.

Hope everyone enjoyed last nights Charity Police Dog talk and you found it informative with a sprinkling of humour.
Thanks to everyone for their support and following a generous donation from Abbie and Paul we raised over £1000 for The Alzheimer’s Society.

Looking forward to my talk on Police Dogs tomorrow.
The entrance is opposite the Iceland store.
Car parking is available in the car parks by the Leisure centre, Ashton Way or The Labbotts.
Doors open at 6.30pm, talk starts at 7pm.
I’ve managed to persuade a friend to bring their search dog and do a quick demo.
There will also be an opportunity to ask any questions.
I have 7 spaces left if anyone who hasn’t already contacted me still wants to come.
