I was on the first ever training course that a newly formed EPT ran starting in 2008!
I qualified in 2010, and the course has obviously developed since then - However the basics and framework
are the same. I’m very proud to now be teaching and more involved with the ONLY accredited Equine Podiatry course in the UK!

It’s been a busy few days with the Equine Podiatry Training Ltd 2nd year students!

I’ve been prepping for the next 3 day course for our first group of 2nd year students!
Day one is pathologies day…. All of the students get a chance to assess the cadaver hooves, before trimming, assessing and advising as if for a live horse, in the form of a slightly relaxed ‘mock’ pathology exam…..
We then go through all of the hooves and trims, and have a good chat about usability scores and advice for each……
A HUGE learning day and good experience for taking pathology case studies on which is the next step….

Two years ago today, we sadly lost our beloved friend, colleague and mentor, Jayne Hunt.

Jayne was a founder member of the Equine Podiatry Association and co-founder of Equine Podiatry Training Ltd.

Jayne will be forever missed by all in the EPA and her advice and sound guidance will never be forgotten. Our thoughts are with Jayne today, as well as her friends and family x

….And they were in fact all fine today! 9/9 students passed their stage 2 exam and are cleared to start their mentored non-pathology case studies - so very well done all of you 👏
The exam is 2hrs long 😰 and as well as trimming, assesses 7 other vital areas such as Communication, Assessment and Record Keeping skills along with a health and safety/efficiency section to pass too.
