For anyone who hasn't followed their journey, there's Zeus, the male German Shepherd, Zeze, the female German Shepherd, and Luna, the female Staffordshire Terrier cross.
Their owners originally contacted me because Zeus and Luna hadn't got on during their first introduction. With the owners planning to get married and wanting all their dogs to live together, we had some work to do. Since our last meeting, they've got married, and all three dogs are now living together in one household. Things are going really well at home, but there's still work to do as we continue working through different scenarios.
I've worked with Zeus and Luna, but today was my first proper opportunity to assess Zeze around other dogs. I started in the compound, bringing dogs in to see how she responded. I initially tried Lilly, but she picked up on something and wasn't comfortable with coming in, so I changed things up. I brought Bear in first, followed by Wild. I knew these two would go straight in and interact with her, giving me the opportunity to observe how Zeze handled the pressure.
Then, in the second clip, you'll see all three dogs together in the compound with Bear and Wild also.
What really stood out to me today was the difference in the mindset of the dogs compared to previous visits. Luna, in particular, was very different from the last time. Previously, she'd been making sure the other dogs knew who she was, especially Zeus. Today, she came in with a completely different mindset.
Today was another positive step forward for all three of them.
