Though wearing a muzzle is never an excuse to put your dog unnecessarily in a situation where they feel uncomfortable, being happy to wear one is a really useful skill!

From travelling on a ferry to an unexpected, uncomfortable veterinary procedure, wearing a muzzle need not be an added stress to your dog if introduced carefully.

The Muzzle Movement is launching their new Just In Case campaign, encouraging guardians to teach every dog to wear a muzzle.

The UK Dog Behaviour & Training Charter is setting a new gold standard for welfare, wellbeing and professional accountability.
In an unregulated industry, dog owners often struggle to know who they can trust when seeking help with behaviour or training. While many excellent professionals exist, there are also those who continue to use outdated, aversive methods without oversight. The UK Dog Behaviour & Training Charter™ was created to change that.

At its heart, the Charter is a code of conduct, ethics, and methodology. But it is also something bigger: a collaboration of the UK’s leading behaviour and training membership organisations, working with the UK government towards self-regulation, under one umbrella for the benefit of animals, their guardians, and the wider profession.

What makes the Charter different:
Positive, science‑based methodology: Signatory organisations and their members pledge to use modern, evidence‑based, force‑free approaches.

Accountability: Accredited members are held to transparent codes of conduct, with robust complaints procedures in place.

Oversight Committee: An independent body provides an extra layer of accountability, protecting animals, guardians, and referring professionals.

Trust & Transparency: Charter members are trained to high standards, keep their knowledge up to date, and understand the limits of their expertise. This means guardians and vets can refer with confidence.

The Charter makes a clear statement about the future of behaviour and training: welfare and wellbeing come first. It defines what is acceptable in a modern, progressive profession and rejects outdated, harmful tools and methods. Displaying the Charter logo shows that a professional is committed to ethical practice, accountability, and the wellbeing of animals.
