🍂🐾 Autumn is here! Time for some seasonal pet care tips 🐾🍂

As the days get shorter and the weather gets cooler, there are a few things we can do to help keep our pets happy, healthy and safe this autumn:

🍁 Watch out for conkers & acorns – these can be harmful if eaten, so keep an eye on curious dogs during walks.

🌧️ Keep them warm & dry – older pets, puppies, kittens and those with thin coats may feel the cold more. A cosy bed and a warm, dry space can make all the difference.

🌿 Check paws after walks – wet leaves, mud and debris can get caught between toes and cause irritation.

🦔 Be wildlife aware – autumn brings plenty of wildlife activity, so keep dogs under control around hedgerows and woodland areas.

🕯️ Take care around candles & heaters – as we start using more heating and candles, make sure curious noses and wagging tails stay safely away.

🔦 Be seen on darker walks – reflective collars, leads or lights can help keep you and your pet visible as the evenings draw in.

And, of course, if you're worried about your pet this autumn, we're always here to help. 🐶🐱❤️

🩸🐶 Could your dog help save another dog's life?

Just like people, dogs sometimes need blood transfusions during emergencies, major surgery, or when they're suffering from illnesses such as severe anaemia. That's where Pet Blood Bank UK comes in.

Pet Blood Bank UK is the UK's only charity dedicated to providing a blood banking service for dogs. They collect blood from generous canine donors and distribute lifesaving blood products to veterinary practices across the country, helping thousands of pets every year.

🐾 What does Pet Blood Bank UK do?
❤️ Collects blood donations from healthy donor dogs.
🚑 Supplies lifesaving blood products to veterinary practices across the UK.
🏥 Helps vets provide emergency treatment for injured or critically ill dogs.
📚 Raises awareness about the importance of canine blood donation.

🐕 Could your dog be a donor?

In general, donor dogs should:
✔️ Be between 1 and 8 years old.
✔️ Weigh over 25kg.
✔️ Be fit, healthy, and confident around people.
✔️ Have a calm temperament.
✔️ Be fully vaccinated.

Every donation has the potential to help save the lives of up to four other dogs.

If you think your dog could become a lifesaving hero, speak to our team or visit Pet Blood Bank UK to learn more about donor eligibility and upcoming donation sessions.

A little time from one healthy dog could mean a lifetime for another. ❤️🐾

🌞 Heading off on holiday? Don't forget to plan for your pet too! 🐶🐱

Whether your furry friend is coming with you or staying behind, a little preparation goes a long way.

🐾 If they're travelling with you:
✔️ Make sure their vaccinations and parasite treatments are up to date.
✔️ Pack their food, medications, favourite toys, and plenty of fresh water.
✔️ Never leave pets alone in a parked car—even for a few minutes.

🏡 If they're staying at home or in boarding:
✔️ Book pet sitters or kennels well in advance.
✔️ Leave clear feeding and medication instructions.
✔️ Make sure your emergency contact details are up to date.

🌡️ Hot weather reminder:
Avoid walking during the hottest part of the day, always provide shade and fresh water, and watch for signs of heatstroke.

If you're unsure whether your pet is holiday-ready, we're here to help! Give us a call to arrange a health check before you travel.

Have a wonderful and safe holiday! ☀️🐾

We all know about the different dog blood types... but cats are a little different! 🩸

Dogs can either be:
🐶 DEA 1 positive (the most common, around 70% of donors)
🐶 DEA 1 negative (the rarer 30%)

Cats have three blood types:
🐱 Type A (the most common)
🐱 Type B (less common)
🐱 Type AB (the rarest)

Just like in humans, matching blood types is vital when a pet needs a lifesaving transfusion ❤️

No matter their blood type, every donation helps save the life of another pet in need 🐾
