The Coastal Cat Vet

🎉 Announcement!!! 🎉 TCCV now has its own building 🥹 Don’t worry - we are still 100% home visiting in Brighton & Hove… but over the next few months we’ll be creating a lovely little cat-only hospital to allow us to look after our patients when they need a bit more TLC 🐈 Thank you to everyone who is patiently waiting for us to expand on our waiting list, and to all our amazing clients who have supported us for the last 4.5years 🩵🙏🏽 From next week our usual service should resume but until then please bear with us as we move in and navigate our new surroundings (just like the stressed kitties we all are 😻).. and keep an eye out for more updates on our lovely new home 🌾🚑🏡🐈‍⬛🌊

Big shout out to my Coastie nurses - the best in the biz 🙌 Did you know that the title of Veterinary Nurse is not protected? Which means anyone can call themselves one! I think you’ll agree these highly skilled Registered Veterinary Nurses deserve waaaaaay more respect than that and this year I (& a load of other vets & nurses in the profession) gave our views to the RCVS that this MUST be changed. I’m also really passionate about making sure my business supports nurses as they are pivotal to making our patients experience the best it can be… Mobile practices are pinging up everywhere at the moment, but if they don’t have good nurses to help with handling I’d question if the patients are the ones benefitting… So thank you to my amazing nurses for all they do because I know I couldn’t do it without you 🙏🏽

This is a very special day for us at The Coastal Cat Vet. Today we turn 4 years old…on the 4th day of the 4th month 🎉💫
Those of you that know me know I’m more than a bit woo..and if you look 444 up as an angel number you’ll see it says:
“444 serves as a “wake-up call” for spiritual awakening, urging you to trust your journey, build solid foundations for your future, and recognize that you are supported by angels.”
This couldn’t be more true as I enter this next year with SO much gratitude and hope. Gratitude for the amazing women (my cat-whispering angels) that surround me, keep me smiling on my hardest days and keep me grounded on my crazy ones! Gratitude for every single one of you that have trusted us with the care of your beloved family kitties, and in many cases become part of our extended family and friends. And hope that in the much-needed chaos of what is happening in the veterinary profession right now, that this little independent business that is my life’s work and calling since I was a little girl.. will continue to survive and make a difference to the lives we touch. My staff will still get to be the mothers that are there at the school gates, in the evenings and the weekends for their families.. whilst also shining brightly in the profession they love. My patients (and their owners) will feel seen and heard and comforted that they are truly cared for - right until they take final breath. So as I reflect on 4 amazing years in the village that is Brighton & Hove, and 32 years in the profession I fiercely love, I am so proud of what we have created and hope to be looking after you all for many years to come. Nikki 💫

Hey Coasties! It's been a while! LOTS of exciting changes going on behind the scenes but just to say for now that Nikki is going on a much-needed holiday with her family this Easter 😎, and so the amazing nurses Kerry and Eva will be looking after any queries on Thursday until we open again the following Tuesday, joined by the lovely Paula and Alice. New Priory PETS will be on hand when we are closed and we are very lucky to have our wonderful friend Bronwen who will be available if needed too.
Please make sure you have enough medication to last over the holidays and enjoy snuggling up with your kitties for a relaxing Easter break. 🐣

This year, instead of Christmas cards, we decided to donate to Lost Cats Brighton Lost and Found who are a registered charity, run by a small team of dedicated volunteers committed to reuniting lost cats from Brighton & Hove. They also run a much-needed fostering and rehoming service and every cat is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and has treatment for fleas/worms and any other health issue whilst in their care, whilst also educating on feline welfare topics.

We are delighted to be able to support this local charity that sits close to our hearts and hope to working with them more in 2026 - so watch this space! 🐈🚑🌊

🐈🎄 Merry Christmas from us all at The Coastal Cat Vet!🎄🐈. Another wonderfully busy year of looking after your beloved kitties in the comfort of their own home 😻 A massive thank you to our lovely owners for continuing to support this little family-run business - and all the cards and pressies we’ve received… and a huge thank you to these amazing ladies right here - who turn up every day with a smile on their faces and put 100% into everything they do. And, of course, thank you to our gorgeous patients who make it all worthwhile 🐈🐈‍⬛🐈🐈‍⬛. Sending so much love this festive season, Nikki & The Coasties 🐈 🚑 🌊 🌟 🎄

Please help support our amazing Jeff (I call him an angel without wings 🪽as he has helped so many of our beautiful kitty souls on their rainbow bridge journey) and lovely Sara and her son Jacob at Peaceways Pet Crematorium who are raising money for Raystede and the amazing work they do with rescue and rehoming.

Jeff, Sara, and Jacob are taking the leap!

On 22 August 2025, Jeff, the Manager of Peaceways, along with Sara—who also works at Peaceways—and her son Jacob, will be jumping out of a plane to raise money for Raystede Centre for Animal Welfare and Peaceways Pet Crematorium—two causes that help both animals and people in need.

If you’d like to support their skydive (and the animals at Raystede!), your support, no matter the size, can make a difference. Every donation helps us continue our vital work rescuing, rehoming, and supporting animals, and providing comfort to families saying goodbye to their pets.

☀️🍹 🐈 🌊 🚑 A couple of weekends ago I hosted our annual Coastie summer party to say thank you for all the epically hard work from my team, and all the continued support from their families. This is such an important tradition for me as I remember going to my first work BBQ when I helped out at the local vets just 14 years old - and how valued I felt being invited. Roll forward (ahem) 30+ years and I’m so proud to call these amazing women my friends and colleagues 🥰
Huge thanks also goes out to my awesome friend .e.mac from whom I had lots of help getting everything ready and who I first met 20years ago in Sydney when we worked together as baby vet and nurse and, how after coming to work for 6yrs in the UK she only went home and co-created her own cat clinic in Sydney 💕 And if anyone can make an amazing pavlova, it’s an Aussie 😘 We all had a LOT of fun and here are some pics of a great afternoon 🥰
