🌞 HOT WEATHER DOG WALKING UPDATE 🌞

With temperatures reaching well into the 30s today, the welfare of my Little Legs doggies has been my absolute priority.

This morning, walks were brought forward much earlier than usual to avoid the hottest part of the day. We stuck to shady areas, enjoyed plenty of opportunities to cool off in the water, and headed home before the heat really kicked in.

For my lunchtime dogs, I checked in with all of their mums and dads to discuss what would be best for each individual dog. Some dogs stayed at home with family members available to let them out, while others had garden visits for a quick toilet break instead of a walk.

A couple of dogs joined me for a very short woodland walk, completely out of direct sunlight, with access to water for paddling and cooling off. One young lad, who was bursting with energy, enjoyed a brief run around in the shade before heading straight home. The choice was always based on what was best for each dog and what their owners were happy with.

Every dog is different, and during weather like this it’s all about being sensible, flexible, and putting their wellbeing first. Thank you to all my wonderful dog parents for working with me today to make sure your pups stayed safe, comfortable and happy. 🐾❤️

What a lovely couple of days with the Little Legs gang this week. With the weather having finally perked up a bit here in Lancashire, the dogs have absolutely made the most of it — lots of tail-wagging, sniffing, and proper zoomies in the warmer (but still comfortable!) sunshine. It’s been one of those weeks where they come back from walks looking like they’ve had the best little adventure.

Monday and Tuesday were both really enjoyable, steady-paced walks with plenty of time built in for play and exploring. The dogs have been in great spirits, especially enjoying the drier ground and being able to potter about without the usual soggy-paw situation. It’s been really nice seeing them settle into the rhythm and just enjoy being out together.

As we head into the summer period, just a quick reminder that if you need to tweak days or times because of holidays or plans coming up, just give me a shout. I’ll always do my best to change things around and keep everything running smoothly for you and the dogs where I can.

Happy birthday to our handsome boy Ralph 🎉🥳🎉

The wind can’t catch him,
The ball can’t hide,
The water calls,
And in he dives.

With endless energy,
A wagging tail,
He races through
Each woodland trail.

A friend to every dog he meets,
A happy heart on four quick feet,
Running, swimming, chasing fun,
From morning light to setting sun.

Beautiful Ralph, our special boy,
So full of life, so full of joy.

What a wonderfully soggy week we are having at Little Legs! ☔🐾

This week we’ve been exploring Hurstwood, Towneley, Briercliffe Woodland Walk and Rowley, and while the weather has certainly kept us on our toes, it hasn’t dampened anyone’s spirits!
There have been puddles to splash through, muddy paths to investigate and plenty of rainy adventures to enjoy. The dogs have absolutely loved every minute of it, charging through the wet grass, sniffing out new scents and embracing the great British summer weather in true doggy style.
By the end of our walks we’ve had lots of soggy doggies needing to be wrapped up in towels in the back of the car before heading home, but judging by the wagging tails and happy faces, every muddy paw and wet nose has been worth it.
A huge well done to all our four-legged adventurers this week for making the best of the rain and turning every walk into a fun-filled adventure. Here’s hoping for a little sunshine soon…. although I don’t think the dogs mind either way! 🐶💕🌧️

Little Legs weekly wrap-up 🐾
While my sidekick Sue Bird has been sunning herself in Greece, I’ve been braving the weather in Burnley. It’s been one of those classic British summer weeks where “June” is clearly a rumour and everything is permanently damp. Every walk has been rain, drizzle, or that sneaky mist that soaks you through. The dogs have been absolutely fine with it, joyfully soggy, completely unbothered, while I’ve just accepted that dry clothes are optional at this point.
Everyone loves dog walking in the sunshine, but this week has been the reminder of what it’s actually like most of the time: wet, muddy, and slightly chaotic, in the best way.
There was also a memorable moment involving an unplanned fall and a group of dogs who chose to simply sit and watch. Supportive in spirit, if not in action. I’ve been nursing a dodgy hip ever since, which feels very on-brand for the job 🤣
The dogs still get their walks whatever the weather 💨⚡️☔️☀️

Wednesday’s gang had the best time today 🐾🌿

A little cooler out there, but we still kept to the woods, stayed out of the main sun, had lots of splashing in the water and plenty of playtime with friends. Safe to say everyone’s gone home happy and tired today! 💦🐶

Looks like it’s going to be a hot one tomorrow, so we’ll be doing earlier walks to keep all our little legs cool and comfortable ☀️🐾

Another lovely week out with the Little Legs gang 🐾💚

This week we’ve been exploring Hurstwood, Briercliffe Woodland Walk and Towneley — and every single dog had the best time running, sniffing, splashing and enjoying themselves with their friends 🐶✨

I’m signing off today for the Bank Holiday weekend as I’m heading off to a festival in Pembrokeshire 🎶🌞

What a lovely Friday adventure for the Little Legs gang today! 🐾☀️

We had a beautiful walk around Hurstwood, with plenty of sniffing, trotting, tail wags and happy little faces. The weather was absolutely gorgeous and the dogs made the most of every minute of it! 💛

Nothing better than fresh air, good company and muddy little paws at the end of the day 🐶
