🐾 Meet Eric & Derek 🐾

These adorable brothers came in last week for their first vaccinations and health check with our lovely vet, Margaux. 💉🐱 They were both given a thorough check-up and were very brave little patients for the vaccine injection!

Eric and Derek were found by a member of the public a few weeks ago, along with their feral mum. With the help of Feral Cat Care, we were able to catch them all and get their mum safely neutered, helping to prevent more unwanted litters. ❤️

These little boys were taken on by 2 members of our staff, where they are being well and truly loved and cared for. 😻💙

Grass seed season 🌾

It’s been an incredibly busy summer at the practice, with the hot weather and dry grass, we have seen an increase in grass seeds needing to be removed from dogs 🌱🐶

Grass seeds can easily become trapped in paws, ears, eyes and coats, and their sharp, pointed shape means they can sometimes work their way beneath the skin or deeper into the body.

Keep an eye out for signs such as:
🐾 Persistent licking or chewing of a paw
👂 Head shaking or scratching at the ears
👁️ Redness, squinting or discharge from an eye
🐶 Sudden swelling, soreness or a new lump
😣 Repeated sneezing or discomfort

After walks, especially through long or dry grass, give your dog a quick check and brush, paying particular attention to paws, ears and between the toes.

If you think your dog may have a grass seed stuck somewhere, please contact us on 01308 456771, Early treatment can help prevent it from travelling further and causing a more serious problem.

The numbers of cases of Bluetongue Virus across the South West are increasing day by day.

We understand this is a very worrying time for livestock keepers and want to assure you that we are working hard to respond to all queries as well as supplying vaccinations as soon as possible. We are here to support you in any way that we can, do not hesitate to get in touch.

Please see below link to register for the latest AHDB webinar updating us on the current situation.

Cases of bluetongue virus (BTV) are rapidly increasing in both sheep and cattle. Clinical signs appear to be more severe than previous years, resulting in high mortality in sheep.

NSA is urging sheep farmers not to be complacent but to follow the lead of growing numbers of farmers and speak to their vets about assessing the risks of BTV-3 in their flocks and taking action to protect animals.

Join AHDB and NSA Chief Executive Phil Stocker to discuss the latest bluetongue situation.

Thank you to Sharandys Birds of Prey for your kind words

Just want to take this opportunity to say how impressed we are with Bredy Veterinary Centre Ltd On Saturday we had 2 Buzzards that needed urgent medical care, the 2 buzzards mentioned in earlier posts.

Juliet and Milly were absolutely amazing, compassionate with the birds, thorough with the examinations and you could see they really care about wildlife.

This practice has never refused us when it comes to wild rescues and the treatment needed for them. It's a pleasure dealing with this practice and all the staff.

Thank you from Sharon and Matt x

🚨 Could Your Dog Be a Hero? 🩸🐶

We are looking for a new list of potential canine blood donors to help save the lives of dogs in need. Just like humans, dogs sometimes require blood transfusions during emergencies, surgeries, or to treat serious illnesses - one donation can make a life changing difference.

* Between 1–8 years old
* Over 25kg in body weight
