🧸‼️Toy Motivation - Part 3!!!

I was really please with how this session went ☺️

Stanley was more engaged and showed more enthusiasm, which was wonderful to see 😍

➕Plus a few notes on why I move him away from the toy to retrieve it.
*Resource Guarding is something Stanley would be likely to do, partly because of his background and what I do to minimise the risk to myself. (‼️if your having issues with resource guarding please contact a professional dog behaviourist)

➕Plus, why I believe Stanley would be more interested in a ‘Chase’ game rather than tug!

☹️apologies for the bad angle on this video!

Lovely first session after our initial consultation with Nasher! 🐾🥰

Nasher get excited 🤪 and a little frustrated when lead walking and isn’t able to say hello to people and other dogs.

We’ve been working on focus, calmness and enrichment to Help Nasher being to feel calmer when seeing his triggers.

🎉He did amazing today in the home at disengaging from our ‘distraction’ after practicing with his owners, then we went for a short walk and practiced in really world situations.
Both owners and Nasher did fantastic and really started to get the hang of the importance of timing ⏱️, what to reward 🎁 and how to set him up to succeed 💪🏻!

Great job guys! 👏🐾❤️

‼️Toy motivation! Session 2 🐾

This session actually felt like a step backwards in the moment.

❓Why? Maybe…
〰️I went too far, too fast! 💨
〰️I expected too much 🤦🏼‍♀️
〰️I kept the session going too long ⏰
〰️Stanley just wasn’t in the mood 🤷‍♀️

❤️ But Actually this session taught me a lot! So I continued to edit this video to be posted.

Mistakes are a part of learning for you and your dog. It’s ok to get it wrong! 💪🏻

End EVERY training session on a high! That might just mean doing a couple of reps of something your dog enjoys or something simple you know they can do well, even if you feel the been an absolute disaster and a waste of time, it hasn’t, your both still learning 🐾❤️

‼️Toy Motivation‼️
First session ‘Training’

Do I make mistakes? ABSOLUTELY!
Is it perfect and polished? DEFINITELY NOT!

But training and trying something new is all about progress, not perfection 👌🏻

Enjoy 🥰🐾

Is your dog toy motivated?

Did you know that playing with your dog can achieve so many things!
It can help with…

⭐️Relationship building
⭐️Focus
⭐️Impulse control
⭐️Mental stimulation
⭐️Physical exercise
⭐️Pray drive
⭐️Reactivity

Plus it’s FUN! 🤩 🎉

Stanley has never played with toys. Other than to destroy them!
I wanted to find a way to help him enjoy playing with me.

This is a huge achievement for us 💪🏻
I love seeing him light up when he’s playing and I love how he’s more focused on me.

Soon I’ll be posting videos that I’ve been working on for a while now, on how we achieved increasing his toy motivation!

Practicing a ‘Memory Retrieve’

❓❓What is A memory retrieve…
This is when your dog sees where the item had been thrown or placed and they you get them to do something else before sending them to retrieve it.

In this case I went for ‘heel walking’ but you could try other behaviours such as a ‘sit’ or a ‘hand touch’ anything your dog knows or you want to practice around distractions!

We’ve also got a lovely ‘Drop’ cue working for us as well!
‼️More videos to come on how I taught this ❤️🐾
