☀️🐴 Hot weather is here — and keeping your horse cool and hydrated is more important than ever!

Make sure your horses always have access to fresh, clean water and consider adding electrolytes to help replace essential salts lost through sweating. Horses travelling, competing, or working in the heat can become dehydrated surprisingly quickly.

Other simple ways to help your horse stay comfortable include:
💧 Offering water frequently
💦Feeding wet cool sloppy feeds
🌳 Providing shade during the hottest parts of the day
🧽 Hosing or sponging down
⏰ Riding during cooler morning or evening hours

Vet Hannah’s favourite hot weather product is Equine America Applelytes 🍎 — a palatable electrolyte supplement that can be fed or added to water! Designed to encourage drinking and support hydration during warm conditions.

🍼 🎀Wishing Our Han All the Best! 🎀🍼

Today we say a temporary goodbye to Hannah as she begins her maternity leave 💕
Hannah is such a valued part of our team, and while we’ll miss her, we’re incredibly excited for this new chapter—especially as she becomes a wonderful second-time Mummy, with little Arlo getting promoted to big brother 💖

We’ll keep all of her clients updated with any news, and we’ll be counting down the days until we can welcome her back when the time is right, which knowing Han won't be very long! 😉

🟠 Strangles Awareness Week 🟠

This week is all about raising awareness of strangles, a highly contagious bacterial infection that affects horses of all ages. While most horses do recover with appropriate care, early recognition and good biosecurity are essential to prevent its spread.

Know the signs:
🐴 Fever
🐴 Swelling or abscesses under the jaw or throat
🐴 Nasal discharge
🐴 Loss of appetite or dullness

How you can help protect horses:
✅ Practice good hygiene – wash hands and clean equipment
✅ Avoid sharing buckets, tack, or grooming tools
✅ Isolate new or unwell horses
✅ Report symptoms early and seek veterinary advice
By staying informed and taking simple precautions, we can all play a part in reducing the risk of strangles and keeping our horses healthy.
