Did you know… NOW is the right time to start looking for pet care for 2027?! 😱

Yes, you read that right!

It might feel ridiculously early, but good pet care providers can get booked up FAST, particularly for weekends, school holidays and summer! ☀️🐶

So, where do you start? 👇🏼

🔎 1. Research local pet care providers

Ask friends/family for recommendations and search local Facebook groups for things like “pet sitter”, “dog boarding” or “home boarding”. Look for recent recommendations from 2026!

🐾 2. Make a shortlist & get in touch

Ask whether they’re taking on new clients for 2027 and arrange a meet & greet.

This gives them chance to meet your pets and understand their needs, while giving YOU the chance to decide whether you feel comfortable leaving your pets in their care. ❤️

📆 3. Check their 2027 availability

Once you’ve found somebody you trust, ask if there are any dates you need to avoid.

Knowing this BEFORE booking your holiday means you can plan around your trusted pet care rather than desperately searching for somebody afterwards!

✈️ 4. Once you know your dates… don’t hang around!

Either book your holiday and send your pet care dates across immediately OR, to be extra safe, check the dates with your pet care provider before paying for your holiday.

Other organised owners will be booking too!

💳 5. Be prepared for a deposit

Most professional pet care providers will ask for a deposit to reserve dates. This could be 10%, 20% or sometimes even 50%, particularly for popular services/peak dates.

Already have a pet care provider you know and trust?

Even better! Start thinking about what dates you may need them for in 2027 and get in touch to find out when their diary opens.

The biggest thing I’d avoid?

❌ Booking a holiday and assuming you’ll “sort the dog out later”.

Finding somebody you genuinely trust with your pets is SO important. Give yourself time to choose the RIGHT person rather than whoever happens to have space.

An end of an era for my good friend Caitlyn 🥹❤️

You may or may not know Caitlyn, who for the last few years has run her wonderful dog walking and pet care business, Caitlyn’s K9’s, in and around Bridgnorth.

Well… she’s leaving me 🙄😂

Ok, slightly dramatic. She’s actually closing Caitlyn’s K9’s to head off into a completely new career and finally pursue something she’s wanted to do for a long time. And while I am obviously SO excited for her and incredibly proud of her, I’m also allowed to be slightly bitter about losing my dog-walking partner in crime 😂💔

Because Caitlyn’s K9’s ending feels like a little end of an era for me too.

We originally met simply because we were two dog walkers working in the same area. Somehow, amongst all the dogs, muddy walks, terrible weather and general chaos that comes with this job, that turned into a friendship that has now lasted a good few years now 🥹

And I genuinely don’t think my journey, either in business or personally, would have been the same without her!

We’ve done so much Crufts, DogFest, trade shows, days out, events and Adventure Days together. We’ve spent New Year’s together, had random adventures, pumpkin picking trips, horsey days and probably sent enough voice notes back and forth over the years to fill several weeks (or months) 😂

We’ve celebrated the really good days and supported each other through the rubbish ones. We’ve navigated plenty of tricky situations in business together, ranted about the weather and the traffic more times than I could possibly count 🫢 ..and laughed at things that probably wouldn’t be remotely funny to anyone else.

But amongst all the fun memories, there are also things Caitlyn has done for me that I don’t think I’ll ever forget….

When I became poorly in 2024 and ended up being off work for a long period while waiting for an operation, Caitlyn stepped in and took over my clients for me at a time when I physically couldn’t run my business myself, she helped make sure there was still a business there for me to come back to when I was better ❤️

And it wasn’t just the business….

When I wasn’t feeling well but desperately wanted to keep doing the things that made me feel like me, she came out on horse rides with me ON FOOT so that I could still do something I absolutely loved while knowing somebody was there with me.

She sat with me when I was poorly, kept me company while I recovered from my operation, watched Bridgerton with me while essentially babysitting me and was just… there ❤️‍🩹

And I don’t think you ever forget the people who are simply there during those periods of your life.

There’s something really special about having someone who just gets it. Someone who understands the strange little world you work in because they’re living it alongside you, but who somewhere along the way becomes so much more than just your “dog walking friend”.

So yes, knowing Caitlyn’s K9’s is coming to an end feels incredibly bittersweet.

I’m going to miss the daily work-related voice notes, comparing our days, the spontaneous rants and having her running a business alongside me.

But more than anything, I’m SO excited for her.

This isn’t really an ending. It’s Caitlyn finally getting to step into a career path she’s wanted to pursue for such a long time, and I genuinely cannot wait to watch her absolutely smash this next chapter ❤️

The businesses might not be running alongside each other anymore, but thankfully the friendship isn’t going anywhere.

There are still plenty more days out, Crufts trips, adventures, laughs, voice notes and undoubtedly complaints about traffic to come probably more from me as she’s escaping Bridgnorth traffic 😆

If there’s one thing I’ll always be grateful to this crazy little dog world for, it’s that it brought me one of my closest friends. ❤️

So here’s to Caitlyn’s K9’s, everything you built, every dog and owner whose life you became part of along the way, and all the memories that came with it. But most importantly, here’s to whatever comes next. 🥂

I’m so incredibly proud of you, Caitlyn ❤️

Onto the next adventure… 🥹✨

Safe to say the dogs had an absolute BLAST yesterday! 🐶😍

🌳 A HUGE 22-acre secure field with its own brook! 💦
🍦 Pup cups to finish
📸 And lots of very happy (and slightly soggy 😂) dogs!

Thank you so much to everyone who supported our Adventure Days this summer. We’ve absolutely loved putting them on with ! 💛

And we might have an October Adventure Day in the works… 👀🍂

Imagine seeing rain for the very first time… 🌧️🐶🥹

For a lot of puppies, this week might genuinely be their first proper experience of rain!

And while it’s completely normal to us, to a puppy it can be a whole new world of:

🌧️ Raindrops landing on their body
💦 Puddles appearing everywhere
☔ Umbrellas suddenly popping up
🧥 People looking different in coats and hoods
🚗 Louder road noise and splashing cars
🌱 Wet grass, new smells and soggy paws
💨 Wind, rain and things moving around

So if your puppy seems a little unsure, distracted or fascinated on their walk, give them time to take it all in.

Let them sniff. Let them watch. Pair new experiences with food, play and reassurance. Keep things short and positive rather than trying to drag them through it.

You might just be going for a rainy dog walk…

but your puppy could be discovering an entirely new version of the world. 🌎🐾💛

And yes… jumping in puddles absolutely counts as enrichment. 😂🌧️

“But when can I stop rewarding my dog?” 🤔

One of the biggest mistakes I see owners make is assuming that once their dog has learnt something, the rewards can disappear completely!

But here’s the thing… why would your dog keep doing something if there’s never anything in it for them? 👀

Imagine your boss stopped paying you because you’d been doing your job for a while and “you know how to do it now “ 😂 You’d probably stop turning up pretty quickly!

Rewards are what help behaviours stay valuable and worth repeating.

Now, that doesn’t mean you need to have a pocket full of chicken forever or reward EVERY single behaviour with food.

As your dog becomes more confident and consistent, you can start to vary when and how you reward them.

✨ Sometimes it might be food
✨ Sometimes it might be praise
✨ Sometimes it might be their favourite toy
✨ Sometimes the reward is being released to go and sniff
✨ Sometimes it’s getting access to something they wanted anyway

The goal isn’t to get rid of rewards.

The goal is to get smarter with them.

Because if your dog recalls away from something exciting, walks beautifully past another dog, settles quietly in a busy pub or chooses to focus on you when the environment is screaming “LOOK AT EVERYTHING ELSE!”…

That deserves paying. 👏🏼

Don’t be in such a rush to stop rewarding the behaviours you’ve worked so hard to build.

Reward what you want to see more of 🐶💜

Does anyone have a new puppy (or even if you’re getting a puppy soon) I could borrow for some filming for training videos 🐶🐾

By puppy I do mean, as young as possible just so I’ve got a blank canvas to work with, and no prior training.

In return I’ll be training your puppy the basics, you’ll be shown how to do this too as well once it’s all ready, you can have access to the videos to learn from too!

I still work with puppies… just a little differently 🐶💜

One thing people are often surprised to hear is that I don’t run puppy classes anymore 😮

Not because I don’t love working with puppies (I absolutely do 🥹)… but because I found I could help owners so much more through 1-1 training!

Every puppy is different….

Some are bold and into everything
Some are worried by the world
Some are obsessed with biting
Some struggle to settle
Some are already pulling like little steam trains

In a class, everyone has to work through the same exercises at the same pace!

With 1-1 sessions, everything is built around your puppy, your home and your goals.

That means we can:
🐾 Train in the places you actually need help
🐾 Work around your daily routine
🐾 Tackle the behaviours that matter most to you
🐾 Progress at the right pace for your puppy

The result? Training that fits into real life, not just an hour once a week!

This lovely boy is currently working through his puppy programme, I’m loving watching his confidence (and his owners’ confidence!) grow 🙏🏼

We will ALWAYS aim to train where you actually need the training to work 😁🐾

👉🏼 If recall falls apart in your favourite woodland walk… we’ll head to the woods

👉🏼 If your dog pulls on the lead around your local streets… that’s where we’ll practice

👉🏼 If they can’t settle in the café you love visiting… let’s train there

👉🏼 If visitors arriving at your front door cause chaos… we’ll work on it at your front door

Dogs don’t automatically transfer what they’ve learnt in one place to every other environment. They need practice in the places that matter to their everyday life!

That’s why so many of our sessions take place out in the real world, not just in a training hall or enclosed field 👏🏼

Because the goal isn’t for your dog to be brilliant for one hour a week with me…

✨ The goal is for life with your dog to feel easier every single day ✨
