Friends For Pets Friends for Pets was set up in the Cheddar area of Somerset in 2008. Lucy manages the Brecon Pet Sitting and Dog Walking Team.

We are a pet sitting company offering a range of very flexible pet care services including:-
Dog Walking
Overnight dog boarding
Doggy day care
Adventure Walks
Cat Sitting
Pet Visits to your home
House Sitting
Poo Collection Within a couple of months of starting up, rapid growth of the company meant a couple of extra pairs of hands were needed to help with the increasing number of clients. This growth continued until we had around 85 pet carers covering a large area of the South West. This was proving very difficult to manage from one central office and standards of service were slipping so it was decided to franchise the company so each area could be managed by a person local to the area who could keep the highest standards of pet care and allow a more controlled growth of the company. Each team has a small, long-standing team of pet carers that become extended members of our client’s families. Becca is exceptionally picky with who is awarded a franchise and only looks for animal-focused franchise owners who are driven by the same ethics and standards as herself making us stand apart from other franchised pet companies. A few years on and we have developed an Award-Winning team of expert managers and pet carers who offer the highest standard of Pet Care to local communities. She had her daughter Lyla in 2024 as a solo mum by choice and is now back at work. Lucy and Lyla live in Brecon with their two fur babies, Maisie and Alfie the miniature dachshunds. Lucy has always been an animal lover, having grown up in the Brecon area with cats and dogs in her family, as well as guinea pigs, hamsters, fish and even terrapins at one point! Her background is in law and she qualified as a solicitor in 2010. In 2018, when Lucy lived in Bristol and was looking for day care options for Maisie and Alfie, she came across Friends for Pets. She ended up having a conversation with Becca which turned out to be life changing – it came at a time when Lucy was feeling totally disillusioned with working full time in an office environment. She knew she wanted to do something else so when Becca mentioned that an opportunity had come up in the Bristol team she jumped at the chance, and the rest is history! Lucy moved back to Brecon in 2021, managing the Brecon, Bristol and South Gloucestershire teams until 2025, when she decided to focus solely on the Brecon team. We now have an absolutely amazing pet care offering in the Brecon area. All of our pet carers have close relationships with their clients and their pets and the team really does aim to be part of your extended family! Lucy and the team can offer dog walking, pet visits, overnight house sitting, holiday care, poo pick up and other services tailored to the needs of you and your pet. We are always looking for excellent pet carers to join the team, so if you are interested in a role with us please apply via our website. Please do get in contact with us with any questions or for further information about how we can help you.

😂🐾Things only dog owners will understand…

1️⃣ You can't go to the toilet without an audience. 🚽

2️⃣ Your phone storage is 90% photos of your dog. 📸

3️⃣ You say “walkies” and suddenly they're wide awake! 🐕

4️⃣ You buy them a lovely new bed… and they sleep on the cardboard box. 📦

5️⃣ You spend ages cleaning the house, then one muddy walk changes everything. 🐾

6️⃣ You wouldn't change a single thing because they're family. 💜

Be honest… how many of these sound familiar? 😂

Tag a fellow dog lover who will understand!

Tom had an unannounced boarding spot check this morning from the council. I am delighted (and unsurprised) to say that he passed with flying colours!

Being a licensed dog boarder is not just a case of walks and cuddles with the dogs in our care. There is lots of paperwork to do too. Tom currently has the lovely Pongo staying with him, who had to have some emergency surgery last week. Having discussed this with his owner, we were still happy to have Pongo stay with Tom for his holidays. Part of the spot check today included the council having a look at the medication records, which were all up to date. Tom also took Pongo to his vet check up earlier this week.

This shows the importance of using a licensed boarder. The best boarders will fly through unannounced spot checks. You won't find us exceeding the numbers of dogs we are allowed to board or with incomplete paperwork.

Super proud of all of my team, who work so so hard year round, but particularly proud of Tom today - keep up the good work!

Contact us today if you want to enjoy a break knowing that your dog is being cared for by the best of the best!

We were very lucky to have a talk at our annual conference this year from Graham Burton, the founder of Drone SAR for Lost Dogs UK. He told us all about the amazing work they do to reunite owners with their lost dogs. As at today's date they have reunited nearly 8,000 dogs with their owners since 2017!

If your dog goes missing, make a report via their website (linked below) and the team will get to work using their specialist equipment. This is a completely free service, funded by donations and drone pilots giving up their time.
